#1 is a clear winner. You did fantastically well catching the front of the train in just the right spot and with just the right amount of motion blur.

Hi Sarah
Authority - Another here for no:1 - Not much you can do with the sky with the weather we have been having - The train adds some impact to the shot imo... Nice take on the theme![]()
*Sarah* said:Marsha a mini meet would be great, we're busy flying display kites at Harewood house on the Saturday and Sunday but would try our best to meet up. Let us know where and when and we'll see what we can do!![]()
Definitely No 1 for me Sarah. The train visually links to 'Railway Authority'. Nice focus and DoF. Also the diagonal line (train) from the top left to bottom right demonstrates nice composition.
Nick
the one with the train for me the other two don't really say anything
Hi Sarah
Sorry not commented so much.
Pride - #1 for me, better lighting, better colours, more subtlety. Good idea too.
Short - #1 to me is clearer, has better colours and skin tones. Good lighting
Flight - good idea and clearly taken. #3 has a lot of motion but for me is spoilt by the denudation of the main head. Very hard to capture but you have done well. On the other hand i think #2 is excellent. It is on theme, good colour, excellent lighting, good use of landscape orientation. The falling seeds look to be in gentle flight. Stunning
Authority - what no black background?#2 is better composition I feel but #1 takes the edge because of inclusion of train. Lighting a bit flat.
If we had more time I'd have bought the kids over to see the kites, I think they'd love it, well for about 10 minutes:bonk:
I've started a thread, there's a link in my signature. But looking at Newmillerdam about 7.30ish on the 18th if you're free?

Hi Sarah
the image with the train going through at speed wins for me , great focus on the sign not worried about the sky , I just think it's a pretty amazing capture![]()
Hi, Sarah, Authority #1 for me. The train is well captured and add some more context.
Cheers.
Another vote for #1 here Sarah.
The sign, the train and viewpoint all come together to make a great photograph. To my eye, the sky doesn't even come into it, i am drawn to the sign and then down to the train.
Great composition, the image really tells a story. Good work all round. Iain
Have to go with evryone else on #1. This encapsulates the reason for the sign of authority. I think we have to accept the sky is our worst enemy in this country and agree with Iain.

Works well for the theme Sarah, nice clean clear face but there seems to be something going on around the edge of the dog ... maybe just the light, or is it some processing?![]()
Just seen this on your flickr, i think the composition, focusing and idea are spot on, but have to say personally the PP is not doing it for me, now maybe thats because i know what a lovely chocolate colour he is with nice soft amber eyes and for me it doesn't say archie, but as i said thats a personal thing
Lovely shot - on theme.
really creative use of mono - he really looks alive on the screen. I suppose only crit would be the line in the background but this ia a small point as this is an A1 shot. Super lighting and I partic like the top hairs. Nice looking dog given a super portrait.
You've done wonders with the image when you look at the original. The B&W image almost makes him look aristocratic.
I really think the B&W works, he is a lovely colour but I dont think the colour shot is as good.
Hi Sarah
Leave - Ignoring the odd outline, What can I say... what a wonderful image and a great looking dog, the B&W is perfect for the shot
Great idea. I much prefer the black and white. Super shot.
I quite like the pic, but how did you get a good day in Scarborough ? I have been loads and never get one haha
B&W gets my vote Sarah
It really shows the features of your dog well.
I think you've done really well with the pp work on the original, you must have the patience of a saint to clone around the dog's fur.
The B&W image seems a whole lot sharper too.
I like the feel of the image, the fringing around doesn't detract from the image overall as I feel my eyes are drawn to the dog's face, the most important part of the portrait. Iain
My dog wouldn't do thatsuper shot and obedience control

'Leave' - lovely image Sarah but i prefer the monochrome out of the two.Nice backlighting and DoF and good interpretation of the them - Nick

#2 for the berries shot, bright, clear and inviting ... that blackberry looks lovely!
#3 for the best on theme of the three.
