weekly *Sarah* 2012 52 week challenge. Yippee I made it!!

Flight is a cracker.

Nice and sharp with good whites/blacks.

#1 for me.

Now, I do like to make things difficult and wondered if a longer exposure would work....getting some motion blur in the seeds???

Cheers.

'Flight' - I think thats a lovely image. So simple but really effective and bang on theme.

Nice work - Nick

I can't believe how close our Short picstures are!

Looks like you did a better job than me, well done.

Pride a Flight are excellent. Really well done.

Thanks Robert, great minds think alike!!

I don't think one is better than the other, there are + and - for both, maybe we should get together and reshoot and then we'd get it perfect!!

Sarah, your flight shots are wonderful! I especially like your last one; way beyond anything I could achieve.

Thanks Mark, you can achieve anything you want it!!:)
If you'd of shown me these pics at the end of last year I wouldn't of believed that I could take them, it just shows how much we have all come on and learnt during this challenge.

Previously I took photos of landscapes and of kites at the kite festivals I fly at. Table top photography is new to me but something I really enjoy, (must remember to tell myself that next time it all goes pear shaped!)

I'll try and take a pic of the set up and then have a go, out of 75 shots I got the three that you have seen. Try it you might be surprised - I was!!:)

Hi Sarah,

What a brilliant idea for flight, love it!

Carol

Last 'flight' image for me, really clear shot depicting the flight of the seed from the dandilion head

I started off at the weekend likign #1 but am now more and more drawn to #3. I like the off centre composition and the blur in the seed which makes it look less static. Great lighting as well.

Now thats an idea!!:) I hadn't thought of that! I'll see if I have time and am brave enough to give it a try!!

It's actually rather simple (depending on the photos your using) In this case open the two photos you want to blend, use the one with the most detail as the main one, so in this case the head from your first shot. Clone out any flying seeds you're not happy with. Not sure what software you're using, but select and copy the flying seeds from the second shot, use paste in place onto the main shot! Done!

Ok so my phone has finally finished loading your images, I would paste the head from shot one onto shot three! Because you have such a clean background it should work quite easily! I used this to add extra bubbles to my magic shot! I am no expert in PP, but learning new tricks every week!

You lie! I've seen some of your photos on Flickr, some superb photos there!

Thanks Marsha, are you married? I am, but I think I'm due an upgrade any time soon!!!!

Thanks Marsha, if I get chance this weekend I'll have a go!!:)

Last one for me too Sarah.
I like the sharpness of it, lovely clarity on the main head of the dandelion coupled with movement in the seed flying off. Great work. Iain

High impact shots, the contrast of the background and the subject is great. Think #3 is my fav though I like them all as its a great idea.

Good thinking on the theme!

Flight - Ooooo No:3 for me... That's very good indeed, I like the motion blur that isn't in the first 2 and also the bend in the stem makes it look more natural... Super shot !!!

Flight Has to be number 3 for me. bang on theme.
All are sharp and clear.

Darren

Thanks Alex and Darren I think its number 3 then!!:):)

We've been away to Scarborough for the weekend and I have really struggled to get into this weeks theme.

Last night after taking the caravan back to storage we drove a different way home looking for ideas. Peter stopped at a police training centre for his shot, driving over a bridge I spotted these signs. I took a couple of shots but the light wasn't great so I returned tonight and took a few more. I can't decide which one to go with and might have another go if I have time!
Thanks for looking!

Well done Sarah ... #1 with the train speeding through is my choice

Hi Sarah. I too like number one with the train going under, just a shame about the blown sky! Nice DOF and blue sky in number two though:thinking:

You're another one of the Yorkshire gang! I'm coming up to Barnsley on the 17th May, I must try and organise a mini meet if you're up for it?

Thanks Gramps and Marsha!:)

I agree about the blown sky but it was one of those situations where I couldn't use a grad filter or cut the sky out!

Marsha a mini meet would be great, we're busy flying display kites at Harewood house on the Saturday and Sunday but would try our best to meet up. Let us know where and when and we'll see what we can do!:)

Yay! I'll quiz the hubby tomorrow for a location and start a thread. I'm only an honorary northerner! The Friday evening is best for me as it's my little boys birthday on the Saturday.

I'll go for number one as well, really like the movement in the train, pity about the sky but am presuming handheld?

number 1 for me as well, I like that you have got a train in view as well, I do also like the angle and composition of number 3.

Thanks Liz and Michael. They were handheld and the sky I'll have to live with as there wasn't much I could do with it. Grad filters would have shown up on the railings and also on the white sign. I could go back for a:) re shoot but its a bit wet today and I'm not going to wait on the bridge again for a train thats running 20mins late!!
