Hi, magical, #2 for me. #3 is a bit busy. Nice detail in the water drop.

Vice...:bonk: I've just seen the text on the objects. Great idea. But surely chocolate isn't a vice...:D

A creative take on the theme Sarah, very clever editing too :thumbs:
It would be good to see this larger but doesn't take anything away from the image. I particularly like the composition, as Lynne says the perspective works well. Iain
 
Bit late catching up this week so I’d better make a start.
Very small photos there so it’s a bit hard to comment on I see where you’re going but I don’t think you got there to be honest I know that they are all vices in their own right and individually all shot really well but they just don’t do it.
No 1 is the best with really good lighting and DOF maybe show a bit of ash that had dropped off thou.
 
Vice is clever especially with the added wording. As others have said, just a bit small.

Thanks you, I'll have a go at making it bigger when I work out how!:cuckoo: It's the first time I've tried this and due to having an absess am not myself at the moment so will try when feeling better! Unfortunatly the antibiotics I''m on mean I can't drink alcohol for 12 days, I don't smoke and I gave up chocolate for lent! It was torture taking the chocolate pics but I have hiden the bar till Easter!!:)

Vice - rather small for me and so impact is diminished. On theme tho and i like the use of the tryptych rather than, say , having the 3 items in the same pic. Also the asymetrical approach works well with the shape and form of the subjects.

Thanks Liz, I have no vices at the moment as I have given up chocolate for Lent and can't have alcohol for just over another week as on antibiotics!!:(

But I will make up for it as soon as I can!!:lol:



I really need to get on with this weeks theme, but am struggling for an "out of the box" idea!!
 
I was beginning to think that I wouldn't get one in this week, but just like waiting for a bus 2 have come along!!:lol:

Not sure about how you will take these - I have to admit my hearts not been in this weekend I have had to push myself to get anything. The antibiotics have got to me and I've had a very quiet week!!

Anyway I am still trying to think "out of the box". It was my sons 17th birthday last Sunday and I thought "Great, a nice portrait of him" as he made his 'entrance' into the world 17 years ago - but what was I thinking did I really expect him to pose - no no no!!:lol:

Back to the drawing board and thought about eyes as you do - eyes are an 'entrance into someones mind - you can tell so much by looking into someones eye!! I managed to persuade my son to let me take photos of his eyes, so here they are!!

Hi Sarah, good to see another out of the box idea. It certainly is a tricky subject and I think you have done very well. Out of the 2 pictures, I will go with number 2, I prefer it because the eye isn't as wide open as #1, giving a bit of a mysterious feel to it.
 
I think you and the box may very well occupy different dimensions by now! ;)

OK so yes, with your explanation, it fits, just, but I'd never in a million months of Sundays think "ah yes, entrance" without it :)

But, nice images. I prefer the pose (!!!) in number 1, as well as the lighting, and think you've got the focus and exposure bang on.

Now, come on Sarah, back in this box please; it's very cosy, and we've put your medication in there for you.

A little twist on the saying "The eyes are the window to the soul" Sarah ;)
It doesn't say entrance to me but with your explanation it just about fits :lol:
#1 gets my vote Sarah, technically very good seeing more of the eye colour is what makes me prefer it to #2. #2 is also good with, as you say smiling eyes, it tells a story in itself. Good work Iain

Sarah, Sarah, boy this is thinking outside the box I had to check I was in the right section, there have been a few posts from people over the last 14 weeks that I have thought what were they thinking and this was one of them until I read your explanation, now I think brilliant idea and spot on theme.
I think a lot of people could learn by writing a good explanation about their shot.

Anyway no 1 for me nice and sharp with lots of detail and eye colour and the skin tones spot on, I see no catch lights or reflections there except that little shiny bit. :clap:

Don’t like no 2 those bags sorry.

what a neat bit of thinking...great idea...had to read the words but yup , just about slots in to the theme ....#1 for.....eye's wider , more color...good shot :thumbs:
 
With the explanation that works, though TBH I'm not overkeen on either, but I'm sure you love him just the same :D
 
Certainly out of the box Sarah, didn't realise Tom's eyes were that blue, i prefer 1, its the depth of colour that i'm drawn to

Thanks Trevor, I think sometimes an explanation is needed but it was a def this time! I took them outside in natural light, there was my reflection in his eye but I had a quick go at pp to remove it!

I think the bags are there just because he broke out into a laugh - either that or too much time sat on his Mac!!:):)

Hi Liz, his eyes sometimes seem more grey than blue, I've not played with the coloour but maybe it has changed a little through flickr!!
 
Eyes are the window to the soul....:D

This is what I tried to do yesterday with Isabelle but she would not stay still.

It's on theme, no doubt and of the two it's #1 for me: nice and sharp, well lit and I can make out a gate and you in his eye??

But lacks something...I thinks it's that he doesn't seem to be looking directly into the camera.

Thanks Andy, I tried it with my other son George but he couldn't stay still either!

I think its some trellis you can see, teenage boys never do want you want!!:lol::lol:
