Hi all I am thinking of Santorini for a holiday later this year with my wife and was wondering if anyone has been there to answer a couple of questions.
1. looking at b&b what is the average price of meals out side of hotels min - max
2. Cost of buses or taxis to get around
3. What are the sites to see

1. Depends how hungry you are and how hot it is! A Greek salad and a couple of starters might be enough for lunch on a hot day but you may want 2 or 3 starters, a main course and some desert on a cool evening. On average, €20 -€40 should cover it - and will possibly get you a 1/2 litre of local wine to wash it down. Fish will be more expensive than you might think, maybe €10 -€15 per portion. Of course, it's possible to spend more if you want to and there are probably little places that are a lot cheaper. We've always found that it's worth walking around listening for groups of locals - they don't eat in bad or expensive places.
2. Busses are generally good value - buy tickets from kiosks rather than from the driver/conductor and they're cheaper. Agree taxi fares before setting off - some drivers can "forget" to start the meter and just pluck a figure out of their heads on arrival.
3. Sunset from the top of the West coast cliffs is a must. The boat trip out to the volcano (active) is worth doing - take water - it's barren and HOT (from underneath as well as the sun). The excavations of Akrotiri should be worth a visit, as should the museums (if that's your thing!). There are plenty of beaches as well. Could be worth a visit to a winery - they grow their vines in a different way to most places.
 
We went in September and stayed in Perissa, in the south east

We managed to eat for roughly €15 per person (I have the restaurants we went to in my notebook) as we couldn't really afford a lot.

We did hire a car though so I can't answer the bus question

Sites to see, as mentioned by Nod, sunset at Oia, although we didn't as I'm not good in crowds so we went to Santo Wines where we sat on the balcony overlooking the crater with a cheese, olive and wine platter for €10 between us. Akrotiri was closed when we went there so check before going out to it. Definitely agree with the winery, Santo Wines & Canava Roussos are both worth a visit. Boutari we went to but weren't impressed.

We missed out on the boat trip to the volcano, we had it booked but it rained hard the day we were to go and the trip got cancelled and it was our last day out there, but it was recommended.

If booking any excursions, don't do it through the operator, we nearly paid €20 each to go on the volcano trip and had a wander to a local travel place and it was half the price. Shop around for the best deal.

Not very big at all

We had a car for 3 days and pretty much covered every road on the island starting at 10am and getting back for 4ish

I will dig my notebook out for you though, I haven't forgotten, just not got round to it yet
