It looks we're heading up there in a few weeks and wanted to know if anyone had been, and what you thought of it? The group of us that are going are into our house and breaks so looks like the place to be!

I've never really liked Skankys much! It gets the big names but the club itself is am expensive sweathole, full of pretentious types and drug dealers. I've been to some great nights there, but these have been severely outweighed by crap ones. Tangled was always good for prog & breaks, but ca n'existe plus, so Area 51 (formerly the Paradise Factory) and the Warehouse Projects are the safest bets for the rest of 2008.

Sorry if thats a bit negative, but if it's any consulation, I can recommend some decent pubs in the vicinity!! :)

How do you rate the others for house and breaks, and overall?

What's that place? Google throws up nothing about. Pubs would be good.

Ha ha, it's not a pub, it's a bit of franglais I thought I'd sneak in!! :D The guys at Tangled Breaks now have this night http://www.clubshift.co.uk but I'm not sure whether or not it's any good or not. The Warehouse Project/Area 51, you will need to check individual line ups on each night, as 1 week it could be DnB or Trance, the following week Minimalist and Techno. This place is getting good reviews too, but might be a bit electro-y for you http://clubclique.co.uk/

Pubs wise, Bar Fringe, Dry Bar, Night & Day, Common, Trof & Socio Rehab are within stumbling distance in the Northern Quarter. :)

Don't let me put you off Sankeys btw! If the lineup's good, and you get the right crowd, you'll end up having a great night, it's just not as guaranteed as some other places (it is the best known club Manchester after all!)

:agree: I've been a fair few times during my studenthood, although not for about 18 months now!

We've changed our plans lol. We're heading to Warehouse Project in November for two nights.

These are the DJs:

James Zabiela

Nic Fanciull
Adam Freeland
James Lavelle

Rich Reason

Erol Alkan
Hercules & Love Affair [ Live ]
Diplo

Cracking lineups, Zabiela shouldn't disappoint. We saw him in February or March at another Warehouse night, and he was superb!! :D

Good to hear! I'm looking particularly forward to Meat Katie, Adam Freeland, Plump DJs and James Lavelle. I've seen Freeland once before at Cardiff Uni a few years back. Even met him and had my photo taken with him! :woot:
