Depends how you shoot. I shoot in raw on a 4GB card on a 1DII and can easily fit 180 shots on there. I prefer to use smaller cards, changing often, that to risk corrupting a card a lose all my shots.

I think a 2GB card is perfectly adequate for many cameras, particularly the XXXD and XXD range shooting in large JPEG or RAW.
