Hi

I have two 8gb sandisk cards (CF), Extreme.
Bought from different sellers. I think even one on TalkPhotography.

Anyway, all my other sandisks show the serial number BL whereas these two 8GB ones have Bl (not 1, lower case L).

Is this a fake? Or do other people have the same?

Everything else looks perfect, sticker is on straight, they work, the Extreme glints when you look in light.

I don't think they are serial numbers, but batch numbers. I bought two cards at the same time, both have identical number at the bottom and third card bought a month later has different number. :)

It a simple problem to solve, buy Trancsend, Lexar Delkin or one of the many other brands which are just as good as Sandisk , with less of the fakes about.

That doesn't solve the problem after the card has already been purchased or answer the question though.

Try them in camera and see whether there's a noticeable speed difference. If any are fake they should be a lot slower .

I'd try emailing SanDisk and get their opinion as well if possible.

Just contact SanDisk and im sure they'll be able to help. Im in the process of replacing a faulty 32 micro sd. They confirmed its authenticity by asking for a photo of the front and back and also the serial number. Im sure they would help

Search google for how to spot a fake, that's what I did when I suspected one I purchased was dodgy

If it works, I'd try not to worry too much.

But I'd also say....

Buy from proper, reputable dealers to reduce the chance of fakes.

Mine are BM.... just a batch number most likely

I have two brand new sitting on my desk both starting with Bl

I doubt whether counterfeiters would make fakes easy for people to spot by adding their own unique batch/part numbers.

The only way to tell for sure will be to test the speeds vs a known real Sandisk card of the same type. Fakes tend to much slower than advertised.

Maybe it's not a lower case L, Will, but a capital I (I).

Just a thought, as there is mention also of a BM code.
