CF card i got today came with a small CD,it's a recover software disc.is it something i need to put on my puter,or is it something i use as and when needed.sorry for appearing dumb,but i'm quite new to all this...

I just keep mine safe (though I have no idea where it is) and will instal it if/when I need it As far as I am aware there is no need to have it installed before any problems with a card - hopefully you will never need it anyway

Its a recovery programme - works well. Keep it safe - install it if you have to, but don't throw it away.

If you accidentally format or delete photos from a card it can help recover the photos, and may work with cards that appear to have died.

What happens is,

when you delete a file it doesn't actully delete it only prevents you from accessing it. The recovery software on the disk reverses that and gives you access to it again.

Word of Warning!!

If you think you have deleted a file by mistake, do not write any more data to the disk/card as the original file will be overwritten and unrecoverable.
