Yes
Has anyone ever had a Sandisk CF card fail on them?

I have had two SDHC and three CF for about three years. No problems at all.

I had one 256mb one fail years and years ago. I've always bought sandisk and have owned masses of them.
There's never going to be a make that's 100% reliable.

Hi

CF are the most reliable type of card that's why the manufactures use them for the more high end cameras. I have never had one fail.

I have had some problems with a couple of cheaper Sandisk cards but nothing major. My 8GB Extreme is built like a brick and has never failed me in all weathers and conditions.

It would be interesting to hear from those who have had failures where they got them from and how much they paid for them.

I use Sandisk CF cards and have never had one fail, in fact ive never had a CF card fail ever (wheres that piece of wood) still got a few 8mb and 16mb ones from donkeys years ago which still work fine, (dont think I will get many raw images on them though) :)

Use SanDisk Extreme exclusively now - 4Gb & 8Gb currently - never had one fail, and always reformat in camera prior to use...

I've got about 12 Sandisk in various flavours from old 2gig Extreme III to a 16gig Extreme Pro and all been good as gold.

I'm sure there are quite a few out there who will have had failures though, given how many are made.

I've been using CF cards for over a dozen years and only ever had one fail - and that was my fault (I removed it from a PDA while it was writing a whole load of stuff).

I have several Sandisk CF and SD cards and have never had a failure with them but I do seem to remember a batch of fake ones doing the rounds a couple of years ago and a checklist of how to spot the fakes.

Or is that my internal memory corrupted and failing? :-)

^It's a massive problem at the minute for a lot of manufacturers.

I had one sandisk card fail. I returned it to sandisk and they told me is was a fake. Despite that I got a replacement.

No I've not had a Sandisk fail on my, neither have I had my Fuji, Lexar or Transcend cards fail on me.

Ah but better safe than sorry you should be using those cards as you don't want all your eggs in one basket with a big card , or so they keep saying on here :lol::lol::lol:

I've had a problem when the camera had an error due to the battery in the grip going flat while shooting. I managed to get the images off the card by copying to another card in a dual slot camera. It was a sandisk, that's all I use, but it wouldn't work in the computer. After formatting it worked fine again. I know the battery going flat shouldn't be a problem but I am always careful to change batteries now before they completely go flat.

I used to always shoot to 2 cards for backup when I could but have stopped doing that. I was wondering if many people bother with that when using a dual card body?

Failed cards included a Transcend 1Gb, Jessops 4Gb and a really cheap one uni something.

Since swapping to Sandisk about 7 years ago I've not had one fail yet and my older, smaller ones have been passed on and are still going. I have probably put over 100,000 shots though the smaller ones.

I use Extreeme III's now with no issues at all.

5 or 6 sandisk CF from either mymemory or 7dayshop.One failed still sat in the drawer with data on it that i can't access

Had a read error after I accidentally spilled some water on my card but has been working fine since it dried out

They are guaranteed for 10 years (I think)
Give Sandisk a shout, they will ask you a couple of questions regarding numbers
on the card and if genuine they will replace it no problem.
Also they usually come with a recovery disk.
but if you don't have that they will also send you a programme to recover said data.

I had one fail a few years ago and the above was the service I received from them.
So I continue to use their cards, IIRC that was an Ultra, that failed, but I have used Extreme since with no hassles

Bl--dy typical, spoke too soon, bought another Sandisk Ultra 4GB CF card from Play.com about 5 weeks ago, twice in the last few weeks I had a shot that just never got written to the CF card, tried to format the CF card in my computer and it either bombs out or takes well over a minute, my other identical Sandisk cards are fine and have never given me any issues, just emailed play.com as im outside the 30 day return period, will wait and see what they say, seems to format in the camera ok but theres definatley something not quite right with it

Never had a sandisk fail! Allthough ebay sandisks which are not sandisks sometimes apparently dont fair well! But I would only ever buy a card from a trusted source due to the importance of the card!

yep had a couple fail
took pics sent to scamdisk they said they were fake.. I bought them from a high street shop but did not keep reciepts they would DO NOTHING TO HELP
So I keep all reciepts not had any fail for over 3 yrs now

Just buy all memory cards and batteries from proper online stores with good reps.
I wouldn't dream of buying either from ebay or any grey import store.

I now would NOT buy Sandisk, there are just so many fakes.

I would presume that play.com is a pretty good solid online source, I would be doubtful that my card was fake, obviously you never know, still waiting to hear back from them but may contact Sandisk in the meantime

I've had a 16gb transcend card fail taking out 11gb of photos :( have replaced all my cards with sandisk now and haven't had any further issues.

I normally always use Sandisk, either CF or SD, this is the first ever issue ive had, have now emailed Sandisk support as well, watch this space :)

It's a shame you have come to think like that. If you pay a sensible price from a reputable source, the chances of getting a duffer are minimal.

I had two Sandisk CF cards gives occasional errors in my 7D which would clear if I turned it off and back on again. Sandisk swapped them for two replacements and my problem disappeared and, yes, they were genuine.
