Yes
ok. apart from the obvious speed difference.
whats the benefit of the 1v against the extreme 111.
we are replacing some of our cards at the mo.
most of our cards are extreme 111's (3's).
with prices of the 2 gig cards down tyo less than £20, is it worth the bother of going for the much more expensive 4's?
most of our cards are 2 gb, with a few 4 gigs.
were gonna grab a few more 2 gb,s .
ok, weve never had a card fail, but i,d rather loose 2gb than 4gb..

AFAIK, there is no difference apart from speed - and unless your camera is pretty much new, it may not even be able to write at the same speed as the card anyway...

However - you mentioned that 2GB EXII cards are less than £20? The 4GB ExIII cards are readily available for £15-£17 both online and in store from Amazon, PCWorld etc.... (PCW requires their price matching)

It just doesn't make sense to me to buy smaller ones for more money  Sure if you are concerned about losing data on a card, get the bigger and cheaper ones but only use 1/2 the capacity?:D

Just don't bother with Ebay!

Play is also really resonably priced for memory thats where I usually go.
But I have bought 2 x 8gb extreme 3 cf cards recently from jessops on the high street for £88.
I could have saved £8 by going to play but I didnt have the time to wait.

I use Mymemory, always found them a very reliable store.

I got a 16meg Sandisk Extreme III (30 meg version) for under £58 delivered last week.

Megabyte for megabyte it's quite good value.

sspeak to Kerso regarding cards, got a good deal from him and next day delivery

Thanks for that link Andy

looking at decent card readers and they have good deals on them

Is there a way to tell a genuine sandisk extreme card from a fake? What sort of things should one look out for?
Cheers

I bought 2 x 4gb cards from eBay and both are fake.
I mailed the seller here said he bought them from a original source?
But is going to refund my postage back tohim.
I won't be buying anymore from there...

I'd never buy a CF card from Ebay (certainly not a Sandisk)

Before Christmas you could get genuine ones for under £15 from Amazon / Play anyhow.

Panic over - card arrived and all checked out visually but I dropped a call to the nice people at Sandisk tech support and they confirmed it to be a genuine item. :woot:

Good job... not sure I would take the risk now though, knowing how cheap they are becoming from an official source...
