Yes
just bought this CF card from Mymemory for £98 and on WEX they are £170 and on Memory Card Zoo £200.
I'd say that was a bargain, one happy tog here

Yeah, good price that. I've used mymemory before.
I bought the same card a couple of months ago from Curry's, when it was offer @ £85.

Prices seem to swing on a daily basis.

My local Wilkinsons cameras has them in atm for £99.99

Hey Carl how are you finding your 800E .
Just bought the new CF card as I am about to jump from a D700 to the 800 range not sure whether to go for the 800 or 800E.....what are your thoughts please.
I like landscapes, architecture and studio work
cheers
Dave

Hi Dave.
I love it! I can't comment on the D800 & how much sharper the E actually is, but I have no complaints at all. I just reckoned, as I could afford the extra at the time and most of us crave that little extra sharpness with lenses( & each of those aren't cheap ) so why not try to improve a tad more with the body on which they're used too?

tbh, I have the 80-400mm lens on it all the time & use my D700 with the 16-35mm for landscapes. In reality I should probably use the 16-35 on the D800E, but the D700 isn't as good for cropping in for bird shots. (I detest changing lenses, especially outdoors!)

Ideally IF they bring out a D400 i'd probably get that for birds/wildlife, sell the D700, then use the D800E for landscape/architecture.

I have found that I need to up the shutter speed though to keep pics sharp/motion blur at bay, but that may just be my old shaky hands.

Forgot to say, I've never done any studio stuff, but it's reckoned to be excellent.

Hi Carl many thanks for your detailed reply.....really appreciate your help and feedback.
I have heard that you have to up the ss to ensure sharp images but that's not a big problem
You mention the 16-35 lens is that the f4 lens and have you noticed any vignette when using filters on it as Simon Kitchin mentioned this in one of his posts
Thanks again
Dave

Hi Dave. Yeah the 16-35 F4 VR . I've only used a CPL on it a few times tbh & not noticed any vignetting . Maybe I didn't shoot @ 16mm though, I can't remember.

As I said, I haven't used it on the D800E. I really must do so, because images would surely benefit.

These were taken on the D700, just after I got the lens. (no filters though)

These are sooc with a bit of cropping & straightening;

D700. @26mm. 1/1600th sec, F7.1, ISO 200. -1/3rd EV.
(even caught a couple of Swallows!)

Thanks, Carl, the images are great and really sharp the lens looks a winner to me.
Dave

Why do you use -1/3 EV? can you not reduce the ISO and have the added benefit of less noise?
