Just dropping in from 2015 (the last time I stopped by!) to crit a few photos on the 52. Hope you don't mind...

Love the shot. Smack on theme for me and the composition is superb. Exposure of the lego man is bang on and I like the selective focus/choice of DOF. I also like the black bars - they really work!

The only thing I'd add which is neutral is the exposure / colour tone on the snow/sand. I'm assuming you've used flour but the exposure makes it look like sand, whilst time of year makes us all think it should be snow? I think if this were posted in the UK summer (to be fair, not sure where you're posting from, so it could well be summertime for you) a sand angel would be perfect.

But that is very very minor in the grand scheme of things and doesn't take away from the very high quality image you've captured. Bravo.

Are you trying to tell me you have never seen the Lion King?
Shame on you :(

i am not admit nor denying anything..... let us just say its Disney... and the last good film they made was The Cat from Outer Space...

thanks Paul...yes...the flour does look off colour and i should have seen this... im actually seeing a red tinge to it... SO.. it was a sand angel on Mars?

Happy - The colours on the clown stand out so well in this shot, love it.

Thanks Steve.. colours do stand out (y) .. he was going to be shot merely standing up... then i happened across the out of date flour... so why not.. :naughty:

 I think this image is brilliant! Great composition and I love the colour and vibrancy of the clown. Great work Frank

Hi Frank ... creative, humorous take on the theme. (y) but I'd prefer to see the feet in focus.

Week 05 Abandoned

Couldn't find a LINK on the main thread. :cautious:

Abandoned ... I like it too ... with the light coming thru the broken windows like that. (y)

No link ....but I found you ....love your little man in the snow for Happy....very clever to convey such a convincing human emotion with a little Lego man.

Good find for Abandoned ...it has a ghostly feel with that misty light from the right hand side

Great location for abandoned and captured well, just a minor niggle is that I find the white line to the right of "you" a tad distracting

I'm glad someone else can see the line as it's not on the psd file and it's been driving me crazy!! No idea where it came from.. might save it again.. :/

Hi Frank.
I'm late to the commenting circuit this year!
I'm loving your images so far.
Look forward to seeing more.
Your ABANDONED shot is certainly creepy!

Ikr.....but I dare not post what was written in the room before this one...nor the one after....

I do like the mood of the Abandoned shot and definitely on theme. However apart from the small white line I find the left blurry edge a bit odd and distracting.

is anyone looking at this on a darker background...as i'm viewing with a white bg... and i don't see it on here ?? do you mean the lens distortion of being such a wide angle? im usually shooting with a 16-35 on a 5dII so im noticing more and more the edges are blurring... i did think it was more me.

Love them both (the happy clown and abandoned).

Keep up the good work!

There's something really quite sinister about that Abandoned photo. You don't see the white blur on the right hand side?

You don't see her?

Can you hear her?

Aaahhh....I see now.... the reflection off the wall they built up to bury her behind ?? I'll see about posting the preceeding room

That is excellent Frank - love it. Great response to the theme. I am envious.

He won't tell you because he like to maintain a sense of anonymity/mystery but his name is Kev..... OOpppsss :)

Heresy Andy! !!! Thy name shall be put on the even naughtier list now..and u will forever get a piece of coal for Xmas. ...that doesn't burn...just sits there.......looking at u..... 0.o

That's a cracker for Abandoned, Frank. I'll be honest and say I'm really struggling with this theme. I love your take and despite that white line, I think it's pretty close to perfect for the week.

@pjm1 If in doubt I always refer to the KISS or PSBD school of thought. Don't get me wrong, I always think through my submissions but IMO it's when members start to struggle with a theme/s that they drop out. Of course, you can miss the theme and come back to it

Cheers and keep going :)

Thanks Andy - this time it's just a lack of that "aha" moment, rather than a frustration with the challenge. Hence the reason I'm working through as many threads as I can to catch up with comments to see if any inspiration will rub off ;)

I have something in mind if I can find an example out there in the wild. It's definitely KISS :) Hopefully less so PABD...

And sorry for derailing your thread, Frank!
