PS I had a look for reviews of the T7 version and they seem to be very positive......................off to order one :D

PPS Amazon seemed to have changed their system 'to make delivery more secure'. I have in the past just had my initial & surname but they now require full first & surname! Oh, in regard to the 'red' T7 it comes from their EU source so that might be the reason for the lower price.....though I note that the Blue and the Graphite colours are both different prices :thinking:

It could affect any warranty - I bought a Sigma lens from 'The Sigma Store' at Amazon and that proved to be from 'an EU source' and the 3-year warranty advertised in English on the box was declined by Sigma UK. Needless to say the lens went back.

The only thing is that the more expensive blue and grey T7s are sold by Amazon EU too, with the same note that EU products may be different from uk products, so I don't think that is the reason for the price difference

They also have WD drives for under £80 in the more common black/grey colour.

Just noticed the specs for the T7, thought all SSD's were limited to around 500 - 660 mb/s

there is a caveat though.
To reach maximum read/write speeds of up to 1,050/1,000 MB/s, respectively, the host device and connection cables must support USB 3.2Gen 2 and the UASP mode must be enabled

Often, it's down to the internal controllers on the drive - even though they use the same standard of USB connection to your computer, the drives inside previous-generation Samsung T5 drives are SATA III, which limits their transfer rates to around 500 MBps, while the T7 drives use NVMe drives internally, that allow them to deliver data twice as fast.

Right, without copying & pasting my email comms what it boils down to is ...

An EU warranty covers, even after Brexit, purchases in the UK.

As for whether Amazon is an authorized reseller in the UK the product support person could not confirm :thinking: referring me to the general help phone line!

Lastly, apparently the only way to confirm that the SSD is covered by the aforementioned EU warranty is to register the serial number on the Samsung website. Of note the serial number is visible on the box exterior i.e. no need to break any shrink-wrap or seals.

I will await my Amazon delivery and see if I can register it AOK :)

Looks like you may have been smart to buy when you did; the price of the red ones has gone back up to £112


Edit: the slower Sandisk and WD drives we were talking about have also gone back up to £132 and £118 respectively

Bought a New T7 1TB Grey £89.99 from Curry’s which I thought was a great price.

Aaand... it's back down to £78 again for Black Friday Week (supplied by Amazon UK rather than Amazon EU)

But they also had a limited stock of the 2TB T7 drives at £163, so I ordered one of them. :)

I’ve recently upgraded my laptop to have it booting off a 1TB M.2 drive and a 2.5” 2TB SSD for storage as there have been some good deals floating round recently.

Amazon has the Crucial 1TB M.2 drive at £61.99 at the moment.

Agh! c'est la vie

I have yet to open the retail pack. .........so could send it back and order the one you mention. That would save me £13........but can I be bothered???
 
Update

I decided to make a 'complaint' and the agents suggestion was return this one and place a new order...........................saving £12.70 IMO was worth the slight hassle of doing this.

PS the return is via UPS to their Amazon Germany Hub.
 
My £91 one arrived yesterday. I intend keeping it, though tempted to get another one as well. I'm impressed so far. I'm struggling to copy my photos however - but I'll start a separate thread for that.....
