Can anybody please help me before I bin this 2,500 shutter count camera? I dusted my "old" GX10 off yesterday to give it to somebody to learn with as I have long since adopted full frame cameras. It has had little use (see shutter count) and always been well looked after. For no apparent reason, the autofocus won't work. It hunts once or twice and comes to rest totally blurred. Switch to manual focusing and the confirmation beep works like a dream. have I forgotten some setting somewhere, or is the autofocus defunct??

Did you give all the contacts a good clean with some ethanol/isopropol/lens wipes? I know that Pentax/Samsung lenses are mostly screw drive, but it looks like it can help somewhat with K10D autofocus problems.

Hi Strumstrum,

Tried several fully charged batteries and updated the firmware ...... no joy.

Hi Cuchulainn,

The contacts look clean and I did try wiping them with a dry cloth .... haven't tried ethanol or lens wipes. Any idea where I could get a couple of the lens wipes from?

I've just used the disposable glasses cleaning wet wipes before.

Hi Cuchulainn/Brian,

Managed to get some ever so slightly moist lens wipes and computer screen cleaner ..... tried both several times - no joy.

Thanks for your ideas ...... looks like it's a manual focus camera now for as long as it lasts (which may not be long!!). I must confess, pretty fed up with only 2,500 shots on the clock - I won't ever be rushing to buy another Samsung camera.

That's a pity - the sensor in the gx10 is the last ccd that Pentax/Samsung usedn in their Dslr range and has a bit of a cult following at low iso. At least it's still working in manual focus.

Sorry for brevity earlier - screaming 3 month old on my lap!

Maybe worth taking up with Samsung due to the low shutter count. They may repair for free or give some other type of gift? Worth a try for a quick email or the cost of a stamp.
