My first time buying a tablet so my experience is only limited to a old Samsung Galaxy SII which was a hand me down mobile phone

Looking to buy a Samsung Galaxy tablet but not sure which on to get out of two which are in my price range. Uses general browsing the net, email and whatever else it can be used for. Also so I can sit in sitting room without having to use desktop in back room.

(1) SAMSUNG Galaxy TabPRO 10.1 16 gb Android 4.4 (kitKat)2gb ram
(2) SAMSUNG Galaxy Note 10.1 16gb 2014 edition Android 4.3 (Jellybean)3gb ram

The TabPro cpu having 1.9ghx + 1.3 ghz octa core and touchscreen is a multi point with LED backlighting, 2 gb ram.

The Galaxy Note 2014 edition looks pretty much the same except that is is Android 4.3 (Jelly Bean) it has 3 gb ram and cpu is 1.9 ghz octa core, no mention of +1.3ghz as in Tab Pro.

The extra 1 gb ram in the tablet two sounds good but I believe the kitKat version of android on the TabPro is newer, this is where I get confused of which will be better or would see any difference ?

Appreciate any advice from any of you guys with tablets.

The latest S model has a very good screen, just like in iPads. Note on the other hand has worse screen but features a very useful stylus. Pro - I'd leave that one...

Or wait until they release a new note with screen as in S.

But have you considered a small macbook pro instead? I am very happy with mine and can't see ever picking up a tablet again.

Macbook Pro just a wee bit out my reach 2 grand ...nah I'll leave that one for now :-)
Galaxy s almost £400 also too much for me just now.

As I said Tab Pro and galaxy note (jellybean) are both within my budget below £300 hence the reason for asking about these two.

I presume jelly bean can be upgraded to the newest version as they come out? Newer Samsungs should be good for that. But Google it to be sure.

Samsung can be slow for OS upgrades, I'd buy on the understanding that it may never change . (I've got the Tab S 10.5)

I have a Galaxy Note 10.1 pre-2014 version and although I love it I'm thinking of selling if you're interested. I just never use it any more because I have a PC, laptop and 5" phone to cover all my needs. It's not the 2014 version you may be after so it depends if the savings are worth losing whatever extras the 2014 version offers (I've no idea what they are).

Bit the bullet and went down to John lewis and bought the galaxy tab s bronze edition, must say I'm quite impressed with it up till now.
hardest part will be telling the missus :exit:
