Afternoon all,

Has anyone here got or had a Galaxy Tab? If so, what are the pros and cons of the device, not really compared to an iPad but the pros and cons within the device itself?

There are some pretty good deals around and as my phone contract is coming to an end I thought I might get a tablet instead.

Cheers,
Kev

why not look on any new android tablets running honeycomb?or does it have to be 7inch tab ?

It's a money thing more than a size thing to be honest.

Had one but my son has iit now, it was just too big to take out as a phone, got a galaxy apollo now and love it.

but in most places galaxy tab is still expensive, too expensive for my like-ling ...

Orange and T-Mobile want £50 to buy it then a £25/month data contract which is less than what I'm paying for a phone I'm not using.

Shame you didn't see the Groupon offer the other day. I got a Galaxy Tab with T-Mobile for £15 (one off) then £15 per month for 24 months thereafter.
I'm already a customer so adding it on was no problem.

I've been very pleased with it so far and the laptop has remained at home a lot more.

The sad thing is I did see that but I thought about whether I wanted it for so long that I missed the deadline. /facepalm

If you can still get them, do what I did and get an iPad 1. I saved over. £100 due to the iPad 2 coming out. iPad 2 isn't worth it IMO. I looked at the galaxy tab but thought it was a bit small for me. If your not that fussed about external memory cards and freedom to do what you want I'd get an iPad. But galaxy tab is good too. There are lots of tablets coming out now so keep an eye out.

I had thought about an Ipad 1 as you're right about the deals. The 3 store in the Westfield centre were doing 16GB models for £99 plus £20/month and the 3 website are doing 64GB models for £149 plus £25/month.

I'm just a bit unsure about it because I'm not a big fan of iTunes and my wife's iPod, on one hand I don't like the way Apple seems so closed and the constant attempt to get money out of you by upgrading their products every 12 months, on the other hand there's some reassurances that their apps aren't trying to invade your privacy or steal your bank details like some of the Android apps can get away with because of their open source nature.
