Yup. I'm sure that's the case. On some recordings it's not visible at all but on some it is... so it must be just down to when the brightness / contrast or whatever pushes it over the edge. It's certainly not been an issue when watching commercial DVD's or indeed when watching recordings off the hard drive... some LP DVD's but not all are the only issue.

Actually I do wish that the TV had an even lower resolution setting, it could be labelled "Old or crappy recording." :D
