Hi all, my brother has given me his never used Samsung 2233rz monitor.
I've tried to connect this to my Fujitsu lifebook laptop but the cable won't fit to the laptop, does anyone know what cable is best to use... Or is this one of those questions where more detail is needed?

Cheers in advance for any help,

Adam.

Not knowing which Lifebook you have, it's hard to give a definitive answer.

It most likely requires a DSub cable as these are the more common option for external displays on laptops; a second option is a DVI cable.

If you post a photo of the display port on your laptop and the options on the monitor, you will have a definite answer.

I've established and got the cable I need for this.

I'm now having problems connecting it to the laptop.

It's a Fujitsu a series life book.

How do I get to use both monitors? No matter what I do the display won't go to the external monitor.
I think I'm missing something.

There should be a hotkey combination - does one of the keys have a Fn typed on it and another a monitor signal ie one of the F1-F10 keys with a square with a line under it?

Hi mate,

F10 has the monitor picture on it. I've tried pressing the two when the computer is loading but it doesn't do anything

Try holding down Fn key and then press F10.

Do you know what cable you got? If HDMI, it may need a setting changing on the monitor to select HDMI source.

It's a dvi to VGA cable I've got for it. Will have another try later. Do you know if you have to hold it down for a few seconds?

You shouldn't have to but it will do no harm.

Hold Fn down, press F10 and see what happens. On many it toggles between laptop, both and external monitor.

Ive tried but still not working :shake:

When I press FN + F10 the laptop screen goes blank for a second and then comes back on, but nothing happens with the monitor... If I disconnect the cable from the laptop it comes up on the monitor that there is no signal

I press the menu button on the laptop and it comes up in the corner "Test Good" but nothing else

Only other thought is the settings on the monitor; is there something in there to choose the input I.e. hdmi, dvi etc

You're welcome. Sorry it's not worked out. Maybe someone else can help.

Is there anything in control panel about video / display etc?
