Morning,

recived some sample prints that i sent to Sams Lab to showcase sizes and to check quality.

Sent Monday, confirmed printing Tuesday arrived Wednesday, cannot argue with that.

Quality seems spot on, and would defo reccomend them as an efficient service with simple to use software

How do they compare to Photobox on price and quality?

dont know about photobox this is the first sample set i have ordered but as i said up to know everything has been spot on, apart one image which was for a poster as part of some coursework, it seems to have been cropped slightly, so cant be used, but for actual photos cant fault

I'm afraid that all labs will do this.

The way a Fuji or Noritsu printer works the printer adds about 3% magnification to your image so that there are no tiny slivers of white unexposed image - as the paper doesn't have perfect registration...

We have, "Album Pages" where we have reversed the magnification - so 100mm will print as 100mm and not 103mm - and that way you won't get any cutoff. However, you will run the risk of tiny white borders on one or more sides. If your image is going into an album with overlays this is ideal. If you are using albums with adhesive pages like the MTA you need to use regular prints and leave a 3mm safety margin in your design.

If you print on an inkjet printer the magnification is not usually added by the printer - so this is not a major issue - if you print with a lazer printer it adds a thin white border as it won't print borderless - and the print driver will ask how you want to resolve this

its not an issue, i can print at home again was only testing it really and wasnt too sure it if would have arrived, the fact the delivery time and that photo prints are good, means i am more than happy.

I just wanted to clarify to others reading this thread that it is a general issue, and not one particular to us!

The loss of a couple of mm is not normally an issue except when you've added text too near the edge - or have an album with an image across two pages - and the bride is in the middle and she looses too much of herself!

With regards to sams vs photobox, I have used photobox for years, However not since trying sams out!
The larger format prints I do for groups work out much better, and its also cheaper to print any 6x9 or 6x8's that I dont do on the spot with my dye-sub
