Hi guys

I am currently putting together some sample wedding albums for my customers, as they are quite expensive (I use loxley!) to order I can only afford to order 2 at the minute. My dilema is should I showcase just one wedding or use several weddings I've done in the one book??? Any comments, advice would be really welcome.

Thank you.:help:

I tend to agree but there is sooo many photographs from different weddings which I want to include and I'm finding it hard to choose just one bride & groom!!!

It depends on what you are selling.

If you want to use the sample album as a container of your best wedding photographs then use several in a book.

If you want to use it to show your ability to deliver a consistent look, feel and quality and to tell a story across the whole day - showing the product that they will get as a client then do one wedding in a book.

Personally if you want the former you'd be as well to invest in an iPad if you don't already have one which can be updated at no additional cost as you get new portfolio material.

Whilst over the course of my 8 years I replaced sample albums as I changed manufacturers and my photography improved I eventually settled on one of each size/style I sold (3 matted and 2 storybook) and then used the iPad and some portfolio software to show the designs from every other wedding I had photographed such that I could show their venue, colour scheme, style. Far too expensive and space consuming to continue having them once your style and quality have reached a level of maturity.

I want to show clients what their wedding album could potentially look like so I think it probably is best to use just one wedding. I have a website and a facebook page and a blog so I'm going to use those to update any recent work. My plan is to have one of each album that I sell as wel. I have a few storybooks but I'm trying to find a good reasonable company for the matted album - any suggestions????

Well you have a choice.

Top end matted: Jorgensen, Queensberry or Albums Ausralia
Mid-range: Mario Acerboni
UK based: GF Smith, MTA + lots of smaller more "traditional" companies

Just to add - you should get a decent discount on samples.
