Daily ~Sam~'s 365 - one day at a time

Something about this i like!..... maybe because i thought you had laid down on the ground as it looks a low shot.... which is what i'm forever doing lol....... a possible crop to just the centre might have worked too?... either way i quite like it!:D

Thnaks, Trace, it's a strange structure in that it isn't open so you can't get into it, but can see into it and the floor you see was just above head height for me. Hope that makes sense. :) Will try the crop at the weekend and see how that works - thanks for the suggestion.

Really like yesterdays.

Thanks, Sarah :)

.....but I quite liked it. The first is my 365, the second is the local church which I think I will probably take a series of shots of until the trees get too many leaves to see it! :)

Random Wall by ~sammi~, on Flickr

Now, the 'story' in todays - I managed to get some time for a longer walk....did my stuff...went back to work...had a chat with a colleague and realised my lovely necklace (which featured in day 54) was no longer on my neck - one heart attack later, a frantic rush around Lougborough and I ended up at an area I may revisit for a photo, me looking up the path at two strange guys on a bench drinking lager and wondering whether they might be a bit leary.....looked down and THERE WAS MY NECKLACE just lying there!! Yay! :) I am one lucky girl!

On to the church...........

Promise I will catch up on everyone else in the morning.....nothing planned but photo heaven so looking forward to it! :)

Hi Samantha, a freat set of pics since my last visit, I really like the reflections you have done, the stained glass window has come out well too. \the church door in b+w I liked.

Thanks, Michael! :)

Loving the idea of day 59 - but wonder if you maybe included too much foreground -
I was going to add a note/crop idea on your flickr but the option is nt there :(

Thanks for the feedback, Jeff! :) I think you could be right about the foreground - I'll try cropping some of it and see how that goes. I couldn't work out why you couldn't add a note as I've had them added before, but looking at my settings I had that option set to contacts only! :bonk:

Love the colours in the stonework, is almost like a stained glass window :)

Definitely a thumbs up on that wall!... Be interesting to see it in the summer if the light or a sunset catches it :-)

Thanks, Sarah - I've walked past this wall two or three times and never noticed the stones or patterns before but it is really lovely in the flesh, so to speak! :)

Definitely a thumbs up on that wall!... Be interesting to see it in the summer if the light or a sunset catches it :-)

Thanks, T - I will definitely try to get back there when the light is better - the street is pretty much in shadow from buildings and dense trees even with no leaves but it is worth getting back a time or two at different points in the day. Not sure how long I'll be working there now so we'll see! :)

Lazy day today, discovered a load of toys from my childhood which occurred in my 20's!!! :D

Anyway, this was my model for today............

Omg i remember him! excellent shot Sam very sharp and the background works really well

Bloody love Rex .....great shot Sam !!!

Thanks, Vince! I forgot he was here, to be honest, so felt like he should have a bi of an outing!:)

Like day 60 Samantha, the blue background works well with the subject, nice lighting too.

Thank you, Michael :) I appreciate your comments.

Thanks, T - he was a little buggar for a while, but I got all Barbara Woodhouse with him and taught him to behave!

Im a bit suspicious as to what the dinosour is going to do to Ermintrude:D:D

Heh heh, reminds me of that scene in Jurassic Park..

"Lex: He's gonna eat the goat?
Tim: Excellent!
Donald Gennaro: What's the matter, kid? You never had lamb chops?
Lex: I happen to be a vegetarian. "

My memory for Jurassic park isn't very good I'm afraid! :) Thanks for the comment, Tim!:)

the dof for Rex is great..but i won't ask whats happening with Ermintrude>>!!!

Thanks, Kev (and, don't ask!!!!) :)

Poor Ermintrude :(

Yup, poor cow!!! :lol::lol:

I like the shot of the dog who's name is on the tip of my tounge!

Slinky! :) Thanks, Jake! :)

:lol::lol::lol: That made me laugh!!

Love yesterdays too!!....naughty toys!:D

Thanks, T! :)

Really like Rex :) But poor Ermintrude, you are obviously infected with house dinosaurs as well.

Thanks, Sarah - I found a load of toys I'd forgotten about in a laundry basket I don't use anymore! The Ex used to love dinosaurs and had quite a few of them....

I have absolutely ZERO interest today in setting up a shot in the house and kind of knew that all day....got out to at least manage to procure sustenance for lunch and took a couple of photos as back-ups in case I didn't do anything in the house tonight. I didn't. Then I had the displeasure of reviewing the back-ups. I wish i hadn't. :gag::bonk:

So, I chose this as today's 365.......................

365/63 by ~sammi~, on Flickr

.....in part because I have no inclination to go and shoot there ever again!

But, I also like this one, which is more likely to be featured later.....

"You want WHAT on your potato????" by ~sammi~, on Flickr

I have a great out-take with him looking right at me in a slightly menacing way!! Once he clocked me, I moved on!

I actually really like today's one. Great sense of perspective. It also shows the closing down sale at HMV (very topical as a documentary style shot). There's interest added by the lady in the foreground (although I wish you hadn't cropped her feet) and then there's that crazy awning that leaps from one side of the street to the other (so it has great architectural structure). A winner all round really

If I were to suggest some improvements, I'd maybe try from a slightly lower angle (capturing more of that awning) and also with a bit softer light. Either way I think you need to head back to that location

Hey Sam, a little catch up needed here....

Great mono on the church doors, really works well. Nice homeward bound shot, love the processing on that shot.

As with others not sure about Day 59 hun, but nice shot of the church wall, and love the childhood toys....great composition and lighting.

Love the Ermintrude shot, think it really works well, and yesterday's shot could one day act as a reminder of what high streets used to look like.

Sam Frustration comes to us all whilst doing a 365 challenge but we overcome it by doing some shots that we are not sure about !!!

Well I think day 63 works quite well , maybe a monochrome version perhaps !!

Chin up young lady !!

Sam i am with you on the frustration... alot of my shots recently i have had to force myself to do... the inclination to set anything up has just done a runner, so i know how you feel...

But!........... i am with Tim here i really like it, capturing high streets and towns lately is quite a good idea, look back in a couple of years and it's quite possible it will all be different!....

Good one!... don't give up go buy chocolate instead!:D

I do that as well Sam, take a couple of just in case shots - they have been used now and again :)

But then, being the nosy cow that I am, I like to see other peoples' High Streets and things :)
