Daily ~Sam~'s 365 - one day at a time

Great monochrome Sam , love the flow !

Thank you, Vince! :)

Good isnt it when you find something 'new' that you like doing :D Great job and looking forward to some more like this :D

I know, Carol - I am now finding so many new things to explore and like.........still feel some days are far better than others but will always be grateful for an experience which is allowing me to take to other things! :)

If I hadnt of started this 365 I think I would still have been stuck on just the flowers so that would have cut my photographing time down to spring and summer  The birds were few and far between but that was all I took ..... now I see things and want to try them - wouldnt have even thought twice about trying them before, would just have steered clear :nono: Would never have tried Macro and right now I am loving it .... see what it is like in summer though with those pesky bees  Would never have tried portraits and definitely not babies  But we are all learning and inspiring each other and thats what I like about it here :D

I know what you mean, there are things I am trying that I haven't before (often because I kind of have little choice but to due to not getting out to where I normally would) but I am enjoying it immensely and, at times, hating it as well

never ever thought I would get this stressed over a few photographs

Just catching up - the chocolate would make me want some but I'm eating some at the moment! Love the light & shadow in the arches & the mono processing.

Two fab shots, nom nom nom to the chocolate

I like the repeating pattern in the arches and the mono suits the subject well

I really like that Sam! Great find!

Thanks, Jake - it's the back of the front of the Council House! :)

That's lovely Sam and a really good conversion

Thanks, Sarah, pleased you like it! :)

Nice symmetry and light here Sam.

Cheers, Phil! :) That building saved my day!

Thank you, Lynn! :) OH is happy because I found him some more Peanut Butter KitKats today! :D

Thanks, Tezz! :) Might try more in mono over the year!

It's difficult for me to describe how much I like the "arches" shot. The lighting is perfect, it shows just enough detail to show what the image actually is, but maintains an abstract feel to it. There are details in the different columns that provide additional interest, but the way you have composed and processed this make it a real winner. I'd be really proud of this one!

Wow - thank you very much for that, Tim! I'm really pleased you like it so much! :)

Sorry doing some catchup :-)

Loving the flowers, not sure about the chocolate, seems a funny tan colour? backgrounds nice and rich though, but the arches shot is fab! Loving the mono, the composition and dof!

Really great shot!

Sam, I really like day 25. Works well in mono and good light too!

Thanks for your comments, Donnie, glad you like the flowers and arches!

Thanks, Ferj! :)

I thought I had a fairly interesting idea. It didn't work. I have a choice between (A) Take a perfect photo every day (B) Take what you can, work to get the best you can and if it doesn't always work out, save your blood pressure (C) Go mental.

I chose B. :shrug::'(:lol:

P.S. Yes, it's a fake flower and, yes, I didn't quite get all the dust off! :p

yes, I didn't quite get all the dust off! :p

You have no idea how good that makes me feel :D I've been known to clone out dust bunnies in Photoshop :D

Can see what you were going for, I think this would be a lovely idea with a Stargazer lily or something. Come back to it later ;)

Feel free to clone out any of mine, Sarah! I promise I would't mind! :D I think it is a concept I will come back to and as soon as I Google Stargazer Lily will try it!

Chocolate is wonderful, I love it and you've got the DoF and focus perfect  but I need to clean my screen now for trying to eat it off my screen :suspect: :naughty:

and under the arches I think is simple but rather effective..

Not really sold on the fake rose, tell you man that he needs to get you some real ones ;)

Thanks for your comments, Matt - sorry about the impromptu cleaning session the chocolate caused!

I know the rose isn't one of my better efforts......will definitely tell him that I NEED real ones and I NEED them NOW!! :D:lol:

Sam love your work but the Rose is too tight and dusty for me to be honest

Thanks, Vince, I know it's not the greatest shot and, to be honest, I kind of lost heart a little and didn't have the motivation to start again. Thanks for your comment about my other photos! :)

I like the idea a lot but yes, it's cropped a bit too tight, didn't realise at first the lower rose was a reflection:-)

Thanks, Paul, I think what I was thinking and was happened had a bit of a disconnect! Also, I was using a fairly small mirror and so had to crop to avoid the background getting in the way so am going to get a larger piece of mirror before I try this again :)

Works well, I have to say I'm another cloner of dust & bits. Did it today getting rid of some specs of coffee & sugar :) For fake flowers, you apparently put them in a bag with dishwasher salt, shake, remove and dust is all gone.

Thanks Sara :) My PS skills are not very honed, I'm afraid so anything which is too detailed (or requires any level of skill) doesn't often get done :$ I'll remember the flower tip!

Just to add....it's not that my house is very dusty or anything - they were thrown in a corner of the shed after we'd used them for something else and most of what people will actually see is little bits of paper towel after I decided that, obviously, the very best way to get rid of dust is to use something which will shed bits of itself all over the place! :bonk::cuckoo::lol:

And, at this rate, the next one's going to be photography :bang::bang::dummy:

Anyway, this was probably my most short lived one. What possessed me to buy pastels I will never know. I don't have an artistic bone in my body, hated it at school and can't even remember using these :cuckoo::shrug:.

P.S. That's not dust, it's pastel on the paper, to try and make it look as though I actually used them!

I'm a bit like that too, I can picture what I want to happen, but my hands can't make it happen IYSWIM

Good colours Sam though I would have preferred a larger dof.

I blamde my sister - she did Fine Art followed by Graphics and Media at Uni. The cow sucked my creativity out of me and kept it for herself!:lol:

Thanks, Phil! :) I'd prefer a larger bank balance but, today, at least, neither of us will get what we desire!

I've got paintings on my walls done by my Grandad, my Dad and my daughters. My sister and brother can also paint/draw - but me  guess I've just not found my media yet darling ;)

Yup :)

I did a similar but different photo I think it was in year 1 of my challenge, but you've done it much better than I ever did  I used to love playing with pastels

That's a nice thing to say, Matt, thank you.
