Hi all,
I've got a WD Mybook Nas drive and I'm trying to set up a safepoint back up on my desktop pc. When I click create it asks for a username and password for the device (my pc I presume).
Which password is this? Whichever one I try it says "invalid".
I've tried my log-in details for the pc and that's no good!

Try your user name in the WD Mybook nas drive for the username being asked for, if you have set a password in the WD Mybook use that, if you have`nt set a password in the wd mybook leave the password being asked for empty. I set one up yesterday and backed up my computers for the first time ever and I spent hours with the same problem, hope it works.

Go to this page click on users, click your name and it will tell you your username. I can see that your name is steve so that may be your user name. I have`nt set a password yet so I don`t know how to find it.

Thanks for that! I found my username and password but it still asks for my "device access" username and password. The weird thing is if I try to create a safepoint on another pc on the network it doesn't ask for username and password- it only asks for it when I try to create a safepoint on my Windows 10 machine!

I may well have the same problem if I set a safe point as I`ve just upgraded to windows 10.

Yes maybe! I've googled the hell out of this problem but still no answer! Think I'll get a usb hdd and plug it into the nas and try that.

Sorted! All I had to do was turn off "password protected sharing" in windows! Trouble is I haven't got enough storage to create the safepoint!

Glad you got it sorted, I`ve had mine a year or two but never used it untill a couple of days ago so I`m just getting used to it as well.

Thanks for your help with this. They are handy although I think another back-up as well would be a good move.
