Safari problems

check flash for an update from the adobe website.

Or use chrome, it's nicer than safari.... :D

What error msg are you getting?

Not getting an error message Tom. The area where the video should be is just a black rectangle. Same with the little iplayer radio thingy.

Had something similar a few weeks back following a Safari u/g - wouldn't play video's - but it came up with a error about Adobe Flashplayer plugin not being installed. Despite reinstalling that plugin from the Adobe site it did not make any difference.

Took a while to resolve and as a interim I d/loaded and used Firefox and all video's worked with no issues.

HTH.

Stick with Safari. Both chrome and ff would be massive retrograde steps.

Do you know if it is quicktime or wma video that won't play? Or is it both? And what plugins do you currently have? I suspect that it will be an incompatibility between a plugin and Safari 5.

Update everything in sight. You could also try disabling individual plugins by temporarily moving them from the library to your desktop.

I think that You will have to update adobe flash player as soon for enjoy video file. If You have not installed it then You have got rectangle area over it. I wish that You will get it soon as far.

Since I updated Safari to the latest version, I am unable to play video or audio. Is there something I'm missing or is there a setting somewhere that needs to be changed? :help:

This may help Marc:

It's a nice little app that smooths out many a crease

Definitely update flash player too. I had some problems with Safari 5 a little while ago and now all is well again.

John, just out of curiosity, why would chrome be a backwards step?
lightweight, security holes, quirky (but not as much as FF). Give it another 5 years and try again.

Glad you have sorted Safari. I'm pretty sure that adobe automatically updated on my machines shortly after Safari 5. /goes to check the rarely used lappy which is feeling rather low since we brought an iPad into the house.
