I was catching the sunrise on the beach in Galveston Texas when a gentlemen approached me and started a conversation about what I was doing. Normally I would be in a race for light and politely excuse myself in no time. For some reason I did not, I actually stopped and talk to the nice man for a good while. There was just something about him that stud out to me.
That was the last thing I remembered before waking up in the ambulance. While we were talking an out of control truck crossed 8 lanes, jumped the curb and ran over both of us. The nice gentleman was killed instantly and I suffered a compounded open fracture head trauma along with a list of other injuries. I was in the hospital for a week and been home cared tied to a wheel chair going on two weeks now. After 3 surgeries I think there is light at the end of the tunnel. My 5dIII and 70-200II were not so lucky. They took a direct hit and are waisted. I felt like I needed to tell my friends at the forum because photography has become such a big part of my life and the members here deserve most of the credit. I learned and continue to grow from the great in site gathered here. This experience was unusual for sure but photography put me there none the less. If you want to read about what happened just google my name, shayne sabala and Galveston sea wall. There are many stories about it. I didn't know where to post this so feel free to place it in the proper spot. Thanks everyone.
