Sad but I just figured something out! Some questions Please

ahhh he was registered but not qualified?

There are a number of photographic organisations you can join without any requirment to reach a certain standard, many of these do encourage members to supply portfolios for mentoring, and some run courses, but very few actually turn away people without seeing their work first. In most case you pay your money and your in.

CT - There are a few basic principles I don't understand 100% but by no means am I just beginning. I am taking in everything I possibly can. I subscribe to podcasts, have books and magazines I am reading, follow tutorials online, read threads/forums and practice by trial and error EVERYDAY. I didn't want basic principles explaining I just wanted a bit of clarification.
Fair dos then. :) But you have a digital camera and a preview screen - you can duplicate these problem situations to your hearts content in practice, and as I said earlier- that coupled with a basic understanding of what your histogram is telling you is all you really need. By the very nature of internet boards, you'll get conflicting advice here anyway. Just be the captain of your own ship and adopt a professional attitude to being a professional. ;)

Sorry if I came over all hard assed - I didn't mean to, and good luck with your endeavours. :)

Thank you CT, all taken in good spirit and I can totally understand why it gets people riled. :)

Have you had a look at Mark Cleghorn's phototraining4U website perfectorchid?

Absolutely spot on for this kind of stuff if, like me, you are that hungry for knowledge.

Some really good stuff on there and convers weddings/portraits/studio and business ideas.
