Hi all.

I've had my S5 Pro sometime now, but have only just noticed something.

When Lightroom opens a raw file its 12mp where as if you open it in Photoshop its 6mp.

Would I be correct in assuming that the 12mp file is going to be interpolated and worse quality due to this upsizing?

I'm not interested in massive prints and just want the best quality file in terms of sharpness and colour.

I couldn't tell you. I know Fuji did something dodgy to get the resolutions they did, but I'm not seeing this issue in any of my Nikon RAW files.

If you want to stick up a RAW file somewhere though that I can download, I'll have a look and see if I can figure it out.

Also I'd be interested to know if Adobe Camera Raw makes use of both the L + R photosites. I seem to find differing opinions everywhere I look.

I have an S5 Pro and I shoot Raw Files (24.5mb) all the time. When I open them in Photoshop (SC4) using the Raw File Converter they open as 12.1 megapixel files.

Never, ever had any issues with image quality off the S5 Pro.
It might be slow, but you can't fault it in any other department.

In fact, I'd go as far as saying that it out performs my D2X in terms of IQ.
All I can say is check your settings :rules: in camera and in photoshop.

Best of Luck

my newly acquired S5 has produced some stunning A2 prints from jpegs at max file size and 12 mp resolution. Jpegs are so good I havnt tried RAW yet!!!
