i've put together a simple HTPC from old pc parts that i've aqcuired from various sources, one part of which is a Soundblaster Audigy sound card. It has an S/PDIF digital out connection but i'm not too sure how to use it?

I realise most S/PDIF connections are either Toslink or Coax, but this is neither, it just resembles a 3.5mm jack connection (and a 3.5 jack fits in it perfectly). The other end would plug into a digital receiver, and I have seen from googling that you can get Toslink to 3.5mm jack adapters. Or am I barking up the wrong tree completely?

Just wondering if anyone had any experience with these? I realise it's a bit old hat, but i've got my video running to the receiver via dv-i to hdmi but need to sort out the audio side of it.....any suggestions?

thnks

cheers Neil, a bit more reading up shows that it probably is a 3.5mm to optical. Infact I also discovered that most laptop headphone sockets double up as spdif outputs too! Learn something every day!
