Is it just me or is the site on the go slow today? I couldn't access it for about an hour or so last night (around 10.30 ish), and this morning, everything is just really s-l-o-w, taking an age to load.

Come on admins, feed the hamster :)

Min - Seems OK to me - maybe its your hamster that needs a coffee :lol:

we were struck by some down time last night as our host changed the ip. This was beyond our control and happened much sooner than we were expecting :eek:

The change was forced by change of routing by Redbus after they withdrew a fibre connection.
We were expecting the change to be during a queit spell, but instead they did it at 10.00!!!!! when we had 70 members online :(

I myself couldn't get back on at all until this morning :(

You could try

start/programs/accessories/command prompt/

and then type ipconfig/flushdns

at the end of the c:\documents and settings\minimeeze* line and see if that helps with the speed.

speed seems ok here at the moment.


Thanks for understanding, it really was beyond our control. We would have liked to have been in a position to offer a warning.....i wouldn't have had to wear my F5 key out then :D
 
Suspected a DNS issue as I could not get on from home (although could access other sites) but you are here in full technicolour now I am at work! :)
 
Seems to be working ok now - the hamster must have woken up :p

Same here, in fact most of my bookmarks just became inaccessible last night and came back on at various stages.
 
Well my ISP hasn't caught up yet :( I'm browsing via the IP which is a bit slow.

Hopefully normal service will be resumed this morning.

Once again, we're really sorry for the interruption. You know how protective we are of you guys. We like to keep as smooth a forum running for you as possible. :thumbs:
 
Not many people online this morning, so I'm guessing that a fair few are having access problems. Just received a text from Witch as she can't access the forums and is having withdrawals :lol:
 
I'm using the IP too. Site just times out otherwise. And no graphics. alternate text for graphics still loading after 5 minutes.

I'll come back later when it has had more time to mend :(
 
Wow for once its all working well for me!!! Normal access, normal speed, no problems at all!!!

I've just changed to use the ntl Guildford proxy instead of the default one and all is back to normal :)

glfd-cache-9.server.ntli.net port 8080 in the 'use a proxy' browser setting.
 
I have noticed it getting perceptibly slower for a couple of days now Cheryl ... sometimes pages do not load at all even after trying Refresh a few times ... sort of like before the system change of a few weeks ago ... :suspect:

I am using FF ... any ideas Admin/Mod Bods ... as it is worse than annoying and slow as an old git with a flat battery in his pacemaker ... :shrug:

I've just now been able to get on.... Really made breakfast dull. Don't ever ever let that happen again ;)
 
i was very annoyed last night, we had no warning at all, just plug pulled at 10pm, rather than an hour later or with an hours notice, we knew that at midnight it was due to change, but just didnt expect 10pm...

Mail system isnt working properly at the moment either, so anyone waiting for a mail will be out of luck for a couple of hours yet.

Competition will be dealt with this evening.

I was!!! I'm off work today and tomorrow (Chest infection AGAIN according to the Doc - I now have to do the anti-b thing for the next few days) and couldn't handle the idea of no forum and only daytime telly to keep me occupied! :eek: :razz:

All seems just fine now though.....:D
 
fianlly got my home connection back online last night and within 10mins the forum went down. was hoping it was nothing to do with me.

Yeah went funny for me last night, and this morning was really slow. I'm in work now and have to use quota time to access the forum :(

Well i must admit i got a little more paranoid the normal last night...
I made my first post and said hello.....then could not get back to the site for 16 hours..10 mins ago in fact :whistling:

I even brought new deodorant:eek:

Anyway glad it is all running smoothly again :thumbs:

Well mine still isnt working properly :( cant get on with the normal link.

Cant look at galleries... often i click a link to another part of the forum and it just says in the bottom left taskbar "stopped".


Oh this really is getting on my...***s .... nerves!!!

I cant see lots of photos, cant open lots of forums...is it just me?
I cant use the normal www.talkphotography.co.uk link. most pages take ages and it says connecting to paypal.com in the corner..then connecting to talkphotography but never actually loads.
Then it logs me out for no reason and I have to keep logging back in.

Its getting so frustrating Im going to have to go off. I hope its better in the morning. :(
 
Janice, if its any concellation, youre not alone.
Ive been out in the cold all day... only got in just now with a little help.
Its logged me out a few times but seems to be steadying now.
Hope tomorrow is a better day .... isnt half boring on that knitting forum! ;)
