Some really great macro shots Ryan. I like them a lot.
Ooh, that's excellent Ryan
Thanks guys!!Nice shot, processing really works for contrast and the angle suit it
What a cutie![]()
What great shots Ryan, they really show her personality.
Nice shots!
Blimey, that’s a cat licking its lips !
Many thanks for the comments all!!Great set, like the detail
Thanks Paul, it's a spinning gold top in its final few rotations. The small circles are the eyelet at the top of the top.A great set for the theme!
I can't quite make out what we are looking at in image #3?
Cheers Kell!Agreed - great set.
I do particularly like your chosen one though.
Thanks Dave!Fab set Ryan.

These are great.
What are you using to get this close?
Superb macro shots!
Fascinating and frightening in equal measures
Thanks all, @Kell I used a 150mm macro which give a fairly generous working distance even at 1:1 making it easier to get shots without scaring the little critters off. The chosen shot had the addition of a Raynox DCR-250 for around double the magnification while still having a somewhat decent working distance. All the images were shot at fairly high ISO around f8 and stacked for the DOF. In the past I used diffused flash/s but find jacking up the ISO to increase shutter speed is less likely to startle the subjects than a giant diffuser and bright lights.Excellent set of insects the detail is fantastic
Thanks, I tried that once with a fly shot. The missus claimed executive privilege and it was immediately removed. She's ok with dragon/ damsel flies and butterflies but any other flies are a no go on the wall...Greta macro shots, not that I'd put them on the wall![]()
