Hi

I was on a Ryanair flight on Sunday, back today.
I was sat today next to exactly the same person I was sitting on the way out.

Is that a coincidence or not?

I guess some people will always have a "favourite" seat they always book.

An example is "the man in seat 61" who will never sit in any other seat on the eurostar.
It wasn't reserved seats.

We were sitting next to each other but on a different row (and aisle ) from the journey out.

Oh I can go better than that for coincidence, this is going back a number of years back to when I was at school....we went on holiday to Majorca one October, the following year we went to Malta in October and bumped to a couple who had been at the Majorca hotel the previous year  what a crazy coincidence

No - I think the statistical chances is given by the Poisson Principle. Strange as it may seem the chances of a cluster of the same incident tend to come along in 3's - fly once more and see what happens

I'm too lazy to do the actual maths, but I guess the odds are something like 1/(number of sets on plane - 1). So maybe 150 to 1 or something. If you sit in a middle seat you'll halve those odds (75 to 1).

Does Easyjet have air marshals like in t'movies?

A different random coincidence on a plane. I was on a flight to Milan around 12 months ago for my work, and I was sitting next to my boss who happens to be a big Arsenal (*Cough* SCUM) fan. We were having a conversation about combative midfielders (apologies to the non football fans). My boss was singing the praises of a player caller Matthieu Flamini, and I was just disagreeing with everything he said, to the point of calling this particular player "a load of s**t". Imagine my surprise when we had landed at Linate, taxied to the gate and started to disembark, when I saw Mr Flamini get up from the window seat in the row directly infront of us

I think on my last trip, we flew with germanwings. Booked online. They gave me the same seat outbound and return, so I imagine it's not that difficult for the computer to book the same flight. Most people probably do similar short journeys.
