Lately, I have been out taking photos and once taken Ill check them on my camera screen and think it looks good and well composed. Then when I upload them and look at the again on the computer, they always looks so boring.. -Nothing interesting about them, just standard amateur shots.

On-site, it'll look good but on the computer - boring.

Is this because I have already seen the shot, so my mind thinks - 'Seen that before'?

Heres two for example.

Im pretty close to packing it in - Or shall I get my butt on a photography course?

Go and shoot something you've not shot before or for a long while, it sounds like you need a change of scenary to get some inspiration back

composition on both looks ok especially #1
bit lacking in contrast - but that's a PP job

hang in there

I agree they do look a bit flat. Probably not what you saw when you took the original photograph. I don't know what software you have, but this can be easily remedied in PP as suggested. Also look at what is in the subject. The wheat field has some distractions with the tractor lines, try cloning some wheat in, or try a vertical crop with just the tree and the wheat upto the lines. The same with the church, try a strong horizontal crop with just the bottom and tops of the window, showing the detail in the masonry.

I wouldn't discount a course either, sometimes it's good to see other peoples take on the same subject.

Mabe things will get better if we ever have any sunshine again!!

Or perhaps a little play in Photoshop

Do you always use f22 on all your shots to max dof, as this may result in some motion blur due to relatively slow shutter speeds 1/30 and 1/60. Only asking.

Not always, I have others but this was the only comp I liked.

I think the sunshine will make a huge difference, Then I can use the circ. polarizer..

Yeh! See what you mean! Enhancing mediocre is a challenge!

Paul

But surely 'improvement' means to make the image better whether is crap or not.

Please could you 'improve' this one too? - they make my versions looks soooo much better - It gives me a tingling feeling again to know that my images arent that bad after all...

Thanks in advance

Contrast boost , clarify , cropped and cloned the clouds around the top to fill it in and a border

Also used the time machine filter and lower density

Nice Edit - Thank you PN

The clouds look ace now

They are all damn good now. Thanks

He's right ^

There's nothing wrong with you're photo's that a little pp won't cure...but..
they are scenes you've seen a million times before, some shot better, some shot worse, but they are generic....familiarity can breed contempt.
You should try something different, daytime cloudy landscapes are really difficult to inject that wow factor you find yourself looking for, you've raised your own level of expectation, which is progress.
Try some night scenes if you still want to shoot scapes, if not, there are loads of other areas to explore, I notice most of what you post is scenery.

Hi
Just come back onto this thread and re-read it. Sorry if I've upset you. That was not my intention at all.

Apologies
Paul

Tend to agree with this.

The straight line through the middle of the first picture also makes it look rather static.

I think its because I live in the countryside.. the picture above with the sheep in, is to the right of my house - and the others are to the left :)

Maybe Ill wander to the town - I do like street photography :naughty:

To me the only thing wrong with your pictures is that they look very soft and the PP youve done already has made them worse rather than better. They need more pop without filling in the shadow detail

Composition wise they are good

Ive had a go at doing something different...

What do you think of this?

It certainly has punch. The clouds are interesting, not sure about the treatment on the foreground. I keep coming back to it though:).

Thought I'd join in and have a play with the first image you posted.
