Run away - it's another 365!! :D

awww thanks fabs. Milly says thanks too

160309 : Mixed Messages

We're all supposed to be concerned with having less packaging, and hence, less waste. So why is it that when I go shopping, I'm now expected to have my own bags, yet when I buy a shirt and it comes with an extra button...instead of sewing it onto the inside of the shirt like they used to and having no packaging at all, they now give me it in a (proportionally) huge plasticy envelope (behind it) that goes straight in the bin once the button is removed? Mixed messages anyone?

170309 : Milly

Another one of Milly. She's very playful at the moment, think it's the weather brightening up. She rarely goes outside now, and never when it's cold.

180309 : Sunset

Sunset captured on my mobile while walking the beastie this evening. Beautiful colours. So lucky to live somewhere that has such incredible displays of natural beauty.

The weather is getting like that here as well, finally some sun and a chance to get out for my sun loving wife :) Lovely colours - what sort of mobile is that? If I try and get anything like that out of mine it ends up looking more B&W than anything else.

It's an HTC Touch HD :)

Thanks Shrubmonkey, looked crap on the phone itself but was much better when transferred over. Did a bit of sharpening/level adjustment in PS and was quite pleased with it.

190309 : Fog

Another mobile shot today. Didn't intend it to be, but after driving into work in brilliant sunshine, to head around the corner into the dock and see the following was quite a surprise! Thought it looked quite post-apocolyptic and more so in B&W so lowered the colour levels.

Fantastic, stunning, moving shot, reminds me of some of the images after 911 for some reason

Ah cat's can't beat them and as you have found ever so well they make fantastic subjects, lovely photo.

Andy.

thanks guys :) seems to be the more spontaneous shots are sometimes the best. I had one shot at that, and it turned out pretty ok, so I'm happy. Probably would have overanalysed it if I'd stopped and thought about it!

Had a bit of trouble with PS and LR over the last few days so have reinstalled and all seems ok now, thankfully! So here are Friday's and Saturday's photos.

200309 : Tree at sunset

Walking the beastie again on Friday, thought I'd see what else I could capture with the mobile. Have to admit it's not doing too bad for a 5mpxl camera.

210309 : Sunset over the Mersey

Took my gran out yesterday for a mother's day treat. Went to her favourite place near Otterspool. Beautiful view of the colours made by the sun setting across the mersey.

I'm cheating a little and using another of yesterday. It's Mother's Day and my nan loves this photo and was quite cross when I said I wasn't using it in my 365  so this one is for her and my Mummy :) Shame about the flare, but hey ho, I'm learning :)

I certainly did JD! Wonder if the break will work for or against us?

Thanks guys, appreciate the feedback

Trying to move outside away from cats and food

Thanks Dave :D

230309 : Help for Heroes

When I took my nana out the other evening for Mother's Day, they had a collection box in the pub and a series of 'comfort parcels', where you bought stuff and put it in to send to the North Western troops out in the gulf. They had wristbands for sale too, so I bought one for each of us, all the money goes to getting some home comforts for the guys from the North West out there. I'm not pro-war, but I do think the majority of the soldiers out there are there because they want to make a difference and are trying to do some good in the world. For that I think they should be saluted. Also my dad was an soldier for many years, so this is something very close to my heart.

240309 : Testing the Canal Link

Walking back from town this afternoon spotted the first little barges on the canal link across Princes Dock so grabbed a shot with my mobile. They went through the new locks, testing them out - they are the first ones to go through so far, so a little bit of history captured :D - and the little dog was having the time of his life. Can't wait until it's open properly and I can spend the day watching barges passing when I should be working

Love the wristband shot.

I used to live right by a canal and currently live one mile away from one. Our local Tescos even has moorings for narrowboat shoppers. Yet I have never been on one. :shake:

What is it about Tescos. My local is also at the side of a canal with moorings for Barges

Still, passing trade is passing trade :)

250309 : Gerbera

On Friday, my lovely friend from work Emma bought me a gorgeous bunch of flowers and I came in to find them on my desk. This is one of the most photogenic of the bunch! Thanks Emma :)

thanks guys. Same subject, macro lens tomorrow! That's just with the 18-55 canon kit lens in a low light so the flash brought out the yellow (you can't actually see it in normal light), so I'm quite impressed.

I like the 23rd, its simple yet effective.
Did you use photoshop on todays image at all? I cant work out if it has been altered in some way or not. Certainly grabs your attention.

I did, the background is photoshopped, I used a magnetic lasso to cut the flower out then clone stamped the background to make it black, then coloured in all the little bits that I'd missed. Took ages

I also played with the shadows/highlights to make the yellow stand out a bit more but I've not changed the colours or added anything. Other than the shadow/highlight tweak the colour is natural - what you see there is exactly as I see it on the viewfinder :) I try to post as close to the original pic as possible, just alter levels really, and if the background is bad or doesn't fit I'll change it. The subject I leave alone if I can.

260309 : Thrice as nice?

This is my first attempt at a tripty-thing. Never done one before, so quite pleased with it. I hope you like it :)
