Rumor: Aperture 3 on the 27th

This was also rumored before xmas as well.
If everything doing the rounds on the rumor mill actually turn out to be real, it's gonna be a busy event. So far we're apparently getting..
- iPad/iTablet/iSlate or whatever the end up calling it.
- iPhone OS 4
- iLife 2010
- Aperture 3/Aperture X

Yes but the rumor before xmas didn't co-incide with an Apple event, this one does. And they're upgrading the Pro Apps to 64bit, so it seems to make sense for a new version of Aperture to be on the cards. I'd also had it hinted from an Apple UK trainer that they were working on a new version late last year.

There's also the rumor of the MBP updates with i5 processors too. Lots of possibles, just have to wait 6 more days.

If I get Aperture 3/X and some nikon primes announced this month I'll be happy as a pig in ( well I'll let you fill in the blank :D )

I'm hoping that the Aperture 3 demo will run happily alongside Aperture 2 so that I can test it out. Aperture 2 runs like such a dog on my MacBook that I'm seriously thinking about switching to LightRoom :(

Forgot about the rumored processor upgrades. Aren't they supposed to be adding i7s to the Mac Pro as well. Plus the touch screen iMac. I'm surprised the event isn't listed as 27th - 28th

The Aperture 2 trial ran alongside the Aperture 1 software so I don't see why not. I've used Aperture from the word go and hate the workflow of Lightroom so I don't intend to change to that. TBH I'd just revert to CaptureNX and PS if Aperture ever gets canned.

I used Aperture for ages on my first gen MacBook Pro 2.16 core duo, OK it's not the fastest thing in the world, but then lightroom wasn't that much better when I tried it.

Interesting. I am currently running Lightroom 3 beta, which works well and I prefer to Aperture 2. Howvere the beta will expire and then it will be decision time, so I hope the rumour is true as it will give me plenty of time to compare, providing it can be run in demo mode.

God bless
Dave

The iPad/iTablet/iSlate has been so strong rumoured/pre-announced I think that's a shoe in, Life 2010 announcement would take all of 30 seconds to say what's in the newer version. I've no iphone so no idea about OS 4 and how big a thing that would be.

They will want to keep up with Lightroom in the numbers game so I would think the next Aperture will be due VERY soon and be 64bit

Who on earth wants a touch screen desktop computer anyway, there be finger prints all over the darn thing. We had them in the past and they never made it big, more a case of something we can do, and not something we should do.

Mac pro is getting a bit long in the tooth now so anything on that front could happen

Mac Pro could get a new chip set, or so that's the thinking, Intel 6 core processor is the rumour

The support for Aperture has been poor at best and Lightroom has made huge inroads into the market. v3 of Aperture is about 9 months too late IMO.

That may be true Guy, but Lightroom sucks from a workflow perspective as far as I can see.

+1 for a hopeful Aperture 3 release.

but the tablet is what really confuses me - how do you type on it? Too big for thumbs, too small for fingers. I'll be really interested in what they've come up with. (Sorry to hijack the thread :bonk:)

:)

WHy would it be too small? I can type on the iphone which is a lot smaller.

you're right, sorry - I meant too small to type with 10 fingers like on a traditional keyboard (though without a physical keyboard, even if the size is right, it'll be tricky unless they have haptic feedback)

it'll be interesting either way because knowing Apple, it won't be released till it's fully functional.

wish they bring out update of macbook pro speed bump and harddrive size to match the white 160gb to 250gb as standard
