Ruined pan?

:lol: yeah but just think when they start moaning we'll be the ones laughing at them.... ok maybe :puke: too!

The problem with abrasives is that they will roughen the surface of the pan which will make it more sticky. I'd soak it in water with a good washing up liquid for however long it takes, changing the water once in a while.

Another vote for washing powder, it is what I use when the Mrs Keith burns crap to the bottom on my pans

Wet the bottom of the pan, drain any excess water away, sprinkle a liberal dose of washing powder [I use Bold} all over the bottom of the pan, leave on for a few mins, next take a boiling kettle of water and poor it over the washing powder, leave it for an hour or more.

Then you just need to agitate it and give it a good scrub.

You pan will come up looking all shiny and new

Rub the pan with raw rhubarb, the stew the rhubarb in there for as long as possible. Works a treat (we went through a phase of making chicken stock but forgetting that we'd left it simmering and coming back to a bone dry charred pan!)

If it's stainless steel inside, try a proprietary stainless steel cleaner but leave it to soak in.

I find it cleans most things - dread to think what's in it.

Well, it certainly wasn't Joe Hawkins (how many people will now go Google that?;))

I have been following this thread seeing how things does pan out.

I suppose you've got to let off steam somehow but thought you might have been able to keep a lid on your revelation for a bit longer....

P>S solution to cleaning the pan - find a local engineering workshop and get them to machine off a few thou. You might need to remove the handle but they can probable weld it back on

If it was my pan, I'd get the ball and chain to do it. I'm sure she'd be flushed with success once done and the pan could take No. 1 position on the favourites list again.

Jeeze let a woman near pans and they burn them.
Thats why I never let women in my kitchen sorted
:p

Men are just as bad :p

Bicarb of soda and boiling water. Don't be tight with the Bicarb. Then a good scrub after soaking overnight.
