Rugby League

Well, Leeds got off to our usual bad start. Wigan looked good, but we were bloody awful.

We come good at the mid season point, generally.

PS.......Rugby Union, why have England started to kick the ball over the scrum giving it back to the opposition, rather than running the ball? The backs are being made redundant.

I think the season is shaping up nicely with Wigan losing their opener at home to Huddersfield, proves that anyone can beat anyone on the day. Nice that Saints have started with 2 wins but, with due respect to London and Salford, they haven't played anyone who'll be challenging at the end of the season.

They were also not that convincing. I sat in the freezing cold last weekend watching London dominate until the last 10-15 minutes when Saints woke up and achieved a rather flattering 10 point winning margin. I was late home on Friday night but Sue had watched the first half angainst Salford and Saints were **** poor, yet the 2nd half was full of great Rugby from them.

I missed the Wigan - Leeds game yesterday so haven't watched any other games yet but it is shaping up to be a great season.

Saints were dreadful first half and I thought Salford could beat them. Second half was a compete turnaround, Saints played very good, solid and attacking rugby. Worthy winners.............God, it hurt typing that...........

I bet it did. :D

Looking forward to next weeks game against Manly though, got my corked hat and cans of XXXX at the ready! :p

After yesterdays game, we are going to get a real hiding unless we buck up a helluva lot.

:D..............Bit unexpected, but i`ll take it.

Didn`t watch the match as all the pubs had Reading v Burnley on...........

I watched a little of it on the iphone but Manly certainly live up to expectations. Was good to see Jamie Lyon again though.

Hopefully, there will be a repeat of the match on at some stage

TBH, I never watch repeated games. Something about sitting through the whole 80 minutes, knowig the score. May just be me.

Yeah, i`m usually the same, but the Final....................all because I live near Burnley and they played on a Friday night, might have to bite the bullet and get Sky........:bat:

Cracking game on Friday night, Catalan deserved it after that second half display.

Can't argue with that. We completely bossed the game and then completely collapsed. How they didn't complete the tackle at the end is beyond me but all credit to Catalan, they never gave it up.

I did watch it at the local with a St Helens fan, even he said Catalans deserved it.

If I had not have downed too many ales, I would have taken the pee a little on here Friday night............:)

Forgot it was on to be honest, been out feeding the budgies and stuff.

Nah.............:D

Wigan ere. Don't get to many games since moving away 10 yrs ago and getting married and having kids yata yata yata.

Looking good this yr tho except for the hudds game, Shaun Wane seems to be doing a decent enough job.

Good match last night, Cas played well and I thought the scoreline flattered us a tad.

Warrington next week, should be a corker.

Again, didn't get to see it.Sad to see London get bashed again. Having seen them against Saints, they looked like a team with potential but, sadly, it looks like they're set to under achieve again.

Got a very tough match at Huddersfield tomorrow, going to have to put in a very good performance there.

Definitely going to have to make time to watch Leeds v Warrington on Friday, looks like a cracker. I might have to cheer on the referee and hope for a draw though. :D

Yep, Huddersfield will be a toughie.

Have too agree Ade, how costly were the two missed conversions in the first half. Comfortable in the end for Leeds but apart from the first 20 mins Cas played some good stuff

Leeds, superb game, could have gone either way, thoroughly enjoyed.............

Even more so because I watched it with a Saints fan.................

Widnes fully deserved the win today. I didn't get to see the match but from what i've heard team selection from Wigan was poor and Widnes took full advantage. I'm a Wigan fan but i'm happy to see Widnes get the first win, i want to see them do well

Wigan.........

:lol::lol:

:lol::lol::lol::lol:

Shocking decision for Shaun Wane to rest so many first team players. I bet he won't make that mistake again

At least some young players got some experience, and made their super league debuts, prob best to do it against Widnes than one of the top 4 and get absolutely humped!

Well, that was a poor week for Saints which ended in the inevitable sacking of the coach. Big game coming up on Saturday and no doubt some good banter with frac before and after! :D Will be good to see how they do under the new coaching team.

Interesting to see that Elima has entered an early guilty plea for that awful late tackle on Gaskell (also interesting that he stayed on the pitch afterwards when Foster had been sin-binned for a much lesser offence. :suspect:). Also, the big difference between rugby & football, at the time of the offence, Elima said to the referee (who was half his size) "what have I done wrong sir". Would love to see that sort of respect shown to referees in football.

Ooooh, just seen this post, I am for my sins a Salford Reds fan, season ticket holder, yes I'm the one ;) We got battered by Leeds last week & I have to say that their play was amazing, I hate saying it but they were magnificent.
Despite our performance last week I think we will shock a few teams this season as our play has become much more attacking, thanks to Longy.

Oddly...........:D............I may be shouting for Warrington tonight, amongst all my Wigan loving mates down the pub.......
