Good start for Leeds, hard game last night.

Saints were excellent in the first game.

I think Huddersfield will be the team to beat this season, no major changes, depends if they can last the pace.

Not surprised Wigan got beat this morning.

Didn't see last nights game, were Warrington any better? They were missing Lee Briers badly last week although it was like watching Saints from 8 years ago. Luke Shaw is looking like the best signing they've made in over a decade. I'm looking forward to when Masoe is fit.

I don't think Wigan are going to be up there this year, got a feel they're going to miss Sam Tomkins too much. He was pivot7al last season.

Huddersfield? I don't know. They did better than I thought they would last season but I'm not sure they can keep that up and "no major changes" may work against them.

What are your thoughts on the Rhinos Ade? On one hand, I see team with plenty of experience of winning Grand Finals. On the other, I see an ageing squad. Like Saints 10 years ago, Leeds have just been through a golden era, could it be coming to an end.

On another note, I've always enjoyed going to the Stoop when Saints have come down to play London. I'm really going to miss that as the Broncos have moved to Barnet FC's ground.

Leeds........hmmmmmm.

Yep, Kev,Rob and Danni are all aging the same. But we have good youngsters about us at the moment. I think we will be strong this year, next year could be the pivotal season for us, Jamie,Ryan etc surely cannot go on much longer. We lost Delaney for pretty much all of last season, Jones Bishop was injured for a fair while as well.If we keep clear of the same amount of injuries we had last year, we will be there or thereabouts .

Saint Helens looked very good Marc, good young team with enough older heads in there, I suspect they will do very well this season.

Ah yes, injuries. The great season changer. We had James Roby out for half of last season and boy did that hit us hard. Certainly no player is bigger than the team but one so influential at dummy half (as Briers was for Warrington) can be a massive miss. Needless to say, you need a reasonably injury free season if you're going to be in the mix at the end of it.

I agree that Leeds will be up there as well as Saints. Another Saints v Leeds Grand Final would certainly be one I'd drool over.

I have corrected Saint's new scrum half's surname. I agree with your sentiments though. We have finally replaced Shaun Long and we should be a power in the game again this season.
Just hope that there is no shock at the revitalised Salford this Thursday.

Ha, I was thinking of someone else while I typed his name but it's alright, I won't correct you on the spelling of Sean's. :p

Yes, we've certainly been missing something since he left and Walsh certainly looks like he could be that something. Talking of Long, I see the Broncos have got shot of him already. Bit of a strange one that.

The Salford game should be a cracker, certainly not one to take for granted.

Sean Long said that the reason he left London was because they changed his terms from full time to a part time post.
London have countered that statement saying that the reason was that Long didn't come up to the standard they expected of him.
I think we should be reading between the lines here. Since finishing his playing career he has been at four clubs and hasn't lasted more than a few months at each.
I have spelt his Christian name correctly this time.

Pie eaters are quiet................

Hopefully, might catch that in the pub later. It is on Sky Telly Marc?

Shower time then, hope it is a good game.

Very pleased with that performance, helped by a very shaky start from Salford. Salford had more of the play than the score suggests though.

Did I hear right in that Sky will be showing all of Catalans' games this season (albeit many of them will be delayed)? Wonder if I can make it to 10p=m tomorrow without finding out the score of the game against Leeds.

Whilst disappointed with the result of course, I don't agree with the WCC format. A few of key players who helped win the respective domestic competition that qualifies you for the WCC have left. New players have been brought in and are yet to gel fully with the team. Surely this game should be played at the end of regular season with the squad that actually wins the Super League or NRL?!

As for last nights game. I really want Salford to do well. Dr Koukash seems to love the game of Rugby League and I wish him all the best. Again, with a few games to gel, it could be a good team who can hope for mid table. Always nice to see premier league footballers supporting the game too.

Yes, every Catalan home game will be on Sky this year.

I really don't think the players would want to play another big game straight after the Grand Final and I doubt it would make much of a spectacle. In any case, the Grand Final is as it should be, the end of season showpiece.

As for the key players leaving and new players yet to gel, well that's what a pre-season is for and it's the same for both teams, especially when you consider that the Superleague season is already underway before the WCC is played

Great start for Leeds and Saints, both teams look very good this year so far, didn`t see the Giants getting beat this weekend.

Not to forget Castleford & Widnes also on 100%.

I watched the 1st half of Catalan v Leeds. Catalan started well but Leeds were much stronger.

What are your thoughts on the Salford "Devilution" Ade? I don't really want to see Rugby go down the football route with "marquee signings" onridiculous wages.

I think if the RL let Salford do what they want, then the entire sport could collapse. The salary cap is the saving grace in a sport that is not cash rich.

Indeed. One of the reasons I love the sport is because it's everything football isn't (and I'm also a football fan)

Giants will be hard to beat tonight, especially after losing to Widnes, could be a defeat for us. Though if we play well enough, it could be close.

Great game, hard game, fair result I think.

@fabs

Big game tonight, any predictions?

I think you have too many players out and we should beat you, but hard getting a win at your place no matter what. Quietly confident all the same.

Bloody hard game, could go either way, very tight.

With 5 minutes to go, I was settling for a share of the points. If Leeds had pinched it at the death, I wouldn't have complained. But, what a way to win it! Makinson showed the patience of a player of 5 times the experience not to try and snatch at that ball.

Cracking game of rugby, where's me heart pills! :D

Saints edged that, fair result I thought, should be a cracking season this time.

I think Leeds had much more of the ball in the 2nd half. If that drop goal attempt had been 3 feet to the right, could have been a different story.

Thought Catalan were going to pull off a shock, not to be though.

Challenge Cup next weekend. Both Saints & Leeds away to Superleague opposition. Think they'll both come through it though.

Can someone answer a question for me please.

I've been watching a bit of rugby league lately - not normally my cup of tea. I like it. Much better to watch than union.

But - what is it with the "scrum"?

Seems entirely pointless to me. The team awarded the put in just chuck it straight through to a bloke standing behind the scrum.

It is an excuse for the forwards to have a two minute breather in reality mate, that is about it.

Makinson is making a habit of out doing Ryan Hall in the spectacular try dept

Pics 3-6 from 110mts away last season against Hull KR http://gcsports.zenfolio.com/p560757943

Makinson is still very young but has already surpassed Ade Gardner (in his heyday) in that No.2 shirt (IMHO).

I take it you weren't at Langtree Park on Friday Gary?
No Marc, im semi retired LOL after i got crapped on by the agency i worked for, ive even got an RU game next Friday night

Was at Hudds v Wolves today, Giants were terrible

Oi,@fracster , we meet again! :D

Worst performance of the season so far today and we still won, massive slice of luck. If I was a Huddersfield fan, I'd've felt extremely hard done by. But you know what they say, sometimes you're the windscreen, sometimes you're the fly! :D

One thing to note, the video reffing was a breathe of fresh air. Just the voice of the video ref explaining what he was looking for and how he came to the decision. The Sky version this year s abysmal! Two of them playing with a big touchscreen telly, looking at the sae thing 20 times, the still coming up with bizarre decisions with absolutely no explanation whatsoever. Sky need to learn from the BBC.

b****r,forgot about these games.

Looks like we just edged past Wakefield.

Stonking game last weekend Marc, revenge will be sweet...............:)
