Morning all,

Well I was talking to a female friend just a moment ago about photography, and how ladies model, and she thinks it's rude when the have photos taken in underwear, and in a bikini it's different as that's what the should wear on the beach etc. Does anyone else think wearing a bra for a shoot is rude?

how old is this female friend?? as that comments sounds like it came from little girl rather than an adult

who the hell uses RUDE when describing glamour photography ????

Les

I say take the bra off:lol:

Thats Glamour modeling.
Hate to think what her veiws are on Pornography

spike

Ask her how people buy underwear if there are no photos of people in it. And how does she feel about men wearing underwear for photos?

With no disrepect to your friend, I'd keep her strictly as a "friend" ;)

To be honest I find that type of comment quite old fashioned really. OK there's a time and a place for most things but a lot of open minded adults, men and women do like the odd raunchy picture or dare I even say pornography.

Provided no one gets seriously hurt (physically or emotionally) then it's all good in my book

I'm wondering if her upbringing has been quite sheltered/Victorian and anything remotely sexual has been demonised?

I would say it probably isn't really her opinion and is perhaps that of a friend that she has adopted as there is no context to the decision. I can understand someone feeling that certain images objectify or demean women but that is now what was said, its underwear shots. A swimsuit shot or even a fully clothed shot can be raunchier than an underwear shot depending on the context of the image. And does that mean she doesn't go into clothes shops as there are loads of such images.

It's all about context.

Typically a man looks at a woman and sees what bits are covered up and judges on that.

To a woman, her underwear is generally a private thing that only certain people get to see whereas a bikini is meant for public show. Emotionally that is a significant difference.

Thanks for all the replies :) I have just read her some and she's not speaking to me now lol

Then she really is a child and probably not worth the effort.

You should see broad st in Birmingham on a weekend night, more underwear on show than Corries underworld factory!

Is anyone else really loving the fancy dress craze where a lot of women feel perfectly comfortable walking around in public in pretty much fully tackled-up?

It's very difficult to do a lingerie shoot if the model isn't wearing any. How can such a shoot be deemed rude? What about boudoir style shoots, is the model supposed to pose in a bathrobe or what? Strange ideas your friend has.

Surely the whole point of an underwear shoot is that it's "rude" (i.e. erotic/sexual in nature) so if she thinks that's the case then it's doing it's job?
If it's not supposed to be sexual it'd either be fully clothed (in bland functional clothing) or fully nude - excluding shots designed to demonstrate products or taken as photojournalism (i.e. the person just happened to be in their underwear because of when or where the photo was taken).

Whether she's comfortable with that material is of no consequence to the material itself, we haven't been told she thinks it should be banned or anything like that.

How old is this "lady" someone said,...... How old are you, Im 50 plus, Ladies!!!!, rude, she and thee need to get out more, and I don't mean that rudely.

WoW  next she will be telling her victorian mates showing an ancle is not right

That's not the point is it, someone asked why someone would think in a certain way and I provided an answer, what I think has nothing to do with it.

If you want porn, buy porn. Don't by a photography magazine and pretend otherwise.

yes. I think it's very rude.

They should be topless, how dare they cover themselves up for a shoot!! So very rude of them

sad really that quite a high number of men talk about women like this :(

I don't think there's anything wrong with what she said at all, She doesn't want to model in her undies, why's that such a pronlem?

Personally that makes her my kind of girl, but that's another matter.

Sad, but true. And I can quite well imagine a group of girls talking about what hey'd let Mr X,Y and Z do to them. No difference. We'e all animals.....

I thought her point was it was rude that other girls did it?

I would agree with the poster who said keep her as a friend. If you want a model, hire one or find a person who isn't a friend and keep it non-personal. I've seen a friendship turn sour because the photographer thought more of the shots than the so called friend.

I think the OP was being suggestive to her with his camera....

"don't be so rude!"

*SLAP*

....yes, I've been there.
