RRS L-Plate/Lens plate alternatives?

Im hopefully getting a RRS BH-55 ballhead soon and will be ordering it directly from RRS. Im probably also going to get the plates I need from them at the same time (D300+Grip L Plate, 70-200mm f2.8 replacement foot, Sigma 300mm f2.8 foot), but the RRS plates are scarily expensive. Are there any good alternatives out there for less money? Preferibly from a UK supplier.

Not UK based but Acratech are good.

Still stupidly expensive for a bit of metal all the same. I've had the D300 / D700 plate.

I use a Jobo plate on my Sigma 120-300 purchased from the site below. Not cheap but definitly much less that the Kirk/RRS brands. Pity they don't do L plates.

I bought a plate from them, it cost 33 quid (for my Mamiya) and was very prompt in delivering. Silly money really but they do work and I suppose they're going to last.

Warehouse Express do somef Kirk L-brackets which are Arca-Swiss, for example. No idea what they're like.
