Royal watchers stunned officers seize their cameras

Basically Sandringham is a private estate and as such the public have no right to take pictures.

Why anyone would want to is a quite different debate, personaly why anyone would want to stand for hours to see an unelected head of state go to church is beyond my understanding:shake:

Just call me Ollie :)

can't imagine her telling the police to confiscate everyone’s cameras in case one of the public got a shot of her ...just as hundreds of the public have done previously, seesm a bit ott.

Just go buy a stamp if you want a photo of her :lol:

Oh *everything* is my level :D

Lol, I might if I knew what I was betting for. ;)

What makes you so sure its BS then?

I'd put money on the order to seize cameras having come from the royal household - theres no way some low ranking police officer has taken it upon themself to carry out an operation like that.

Low ranking I can see your point, what about high ranking?

Chaz No ones getting upset are they?

Graham maybe we should drop this, getting way of topic?

I thought this was the topic? My point is that the Royal family made it clear recently that they didnt want any "private" shots taken of them and then lo and behold this happens.

Okay it might be the doings of an over-zealous low-ranking (and by that I mean sub-commissioner level) police officer, but I would have thought the royal household would have the final say over whether members of the public were allowed to take snapshots on "their" property and that any such action would have been discussed and agreed with them beforehand....

Yeah sure I do, not in the way you think of it though, more of a general cherry on top of type of national asset, people don't come to see the queen..........

Actually, many of them come BECAUSE of the Royal family, and most of them from republics. (US & China).

As for the old Bill, same old, same old. They just need to understand the rules themselves.

Good job I got this one when I had the chance huh?

The bloke on the left is "His Highness Sheikh Sultan Bin Tahnoon Al Nahyan of Abu Dhabi" presenting Prince Andrew with a white gyr falcon at the International Festival of Falconry in Reading earlier this year. No idea who the other gentleman was.

Managed to snag myself a press pass for that event, had one of the BBC togs crouched down next to me when I shot that one, heh.

I like your process mate, makes good sense, maybe your right.
I do consider the speech about photo privacy to be about when the families in private; considering this has been a freely open photo opportunity for years, although its on private land, they where obviously aware families would be snapping as normal, it is a private event they invited the public too after all. It Just seems a bit ott to suddenly clamp down on this event when 'I have assumed' they actually meant intrusive photography of their private lives.

Off topic again. lol, How exactly where you planning to prove whose won the bet btw ...the one who shouted loudest. :D

Just imagine having to meet all the worlds 'leaders' (defo with the fingers) having to smile and accept things when inside you possibly despise everything about the person but under no circumstances are you allowed to say how you really feel...ever!

Who wants that job then? :D ;);)

Oh right, that old cop out line eh! ;) :D

It's not a cop-out at all. Do you honestly think that the officer in charge of the local station took it upon himself to organise this without consulting with, at very least,SO14?

SO14 are the ones who are in charge of policing Sandringham, not the Norfolk Constabulary, so anything at an operational level such as this will, at the very least, have had to be approved by them.

It's far too much of a coincidence that only a few weeks ago the royals warned they will take action against anyone taking "private" pictures of them and then this happens.

Entia non sunt multiplicanda praeter necessitatem ;)

I meant cop-out over the bet giggle we had Graham.

Not your opinion.

I came back with 'hes behind you' ...being as you'd referred to 'you know I’m right' as a tangent on the Panto theme (cos it was criggy) of 'Oh no your not'

Okay a bit extreme, but heck your the witty one so I'd thought you'd get it!?!

I agree with you, its a good argument.
I'm not one to believe a word that’s written in the press anyway, more of a read between the lines kind of approach, so I can't deny that you saying 'you know Im right' ..is very likely too.

There I've said it, happy now! :p
