Hey guys!

Can't think of any other UK based forums i'm on so I thought I would ask here.

If an item was dispatched early on Friday via Royal Mail Second Class from Bristol do you think it will arrive here in Bournemouth today?

Cheers,
Jordon.

It may be in Bournemouth it may not. You say if it was posted, do you know if it has? 2-3 days is only a guideline it`s not guaranteed.

It was definitely posted on Friday morning. So i'd assume:

Friday - Post Office to Sorting Depot
Saturday - Sorting Depot to Bournemouth Depot
Sunday - Nothing
Monday - Bournemouth Depot to my Door

But that could be not how it works at all..

I've had second class parcels and letters arrive the next day after posting, though normally it is one day later than first class.
I'd reckon there is a very good chance it would turn up today.

You got to remember they have a huge back log i wouldn't worry.

You're assuming that Saturday counts as a working day and I'm not sure it does. Second class is slower than first and I wouldn't recommend it for anything that needs speedy delivery. I wouldn't worry too much if it took up to a week at this time of year, although it may well be a PITA.

According to the website Saturday is classed as a working day

  • 2-3 working day delivery, including Saturdays.

  • We deliver parcels anywhere in the UK.

  • Up to £20 cover for loss and damage for your parcels.

As kendo1 said, I have had second class delivered the next day. When I worked for the PO many moons ago second class was exactly what it said.We would be in sorting the mail off into our own route at 05.00,there was a cut off time to be out the office to start our delivery, from memory it was about 07.30. However if there were delays with mail coming in from the road or rail then we would sometimes be kept back untill it arrived, any late stuff in would get sorted but first class took priority. Obviously at some point you had to get out on your round, but the thing back then was while you were out delivering all the late stuff that came in would get sorted ready for the second delivery, I know we do not get a second deliver anymore, so can only assume that any stuff that arrives late in the MLO for whatever reason does not go out untill the following day. We can all moan, but I wonder how many have actually been inside a main sorting office at peak times, it is an eye opener. I have said it in the past, years ago it was run in military fashion, floor inspectors were blokes who had worked their way up through the ranks so to speak from messenger boy`s, they knew the system inside out and it worked.

It will arrive when it arrives and not a moment sooner

So relax and take a picture or two

speaking to the royal mail guys last week

they said any order at local depos are fine no back log but at the main centres now they moved them out of main city i.e. hull had a big repo to deal with mail it now gets sent to sheffield or leeds it used to also get sent to york which does not happen now so they are swamped with mail this is due to privatisation he said

I have a new camera sitting in the ParcelForce Perth depot since Saturday morning, sent Friday morning by Express 24. Spoke to the local depot and apparently the way it works is Inverness 'collect' from Perth and since they don't work weekends (unlike the rest of the world) their collection isn't until tonight so tomorrow at the earliest for delivery.

I think that the Inverness trucks are the only ones fitted with the special water wings that allow them to get across the ocean that ParcelForce say exists between the Highlands and the rest of the UK.

Do you reckon a standard DSLR box size package will come with the regular postie or by a parcel man?

You bought a DSLR and it's been posted out SECOND class???

Wasn't there an option for a more suitable postage method?

They're actually pretty good.
I reckon we've been blessed with some of the best posties in the land over the last several years.
