Is anyone else having problems, we know the weathers bad but we havent had a postal service for 12 days now:shake: we have posted parcels, letters and also waiting for a couple of parts to put the car back on the road, I even sent an item on monday by guaranteed next day delivery AND the PO took my money knowing the service had been suspended on the 1st Dec and didnt tell me:shake:

If you've had no mail for so long, what made you think paying a couple of quid extra for SD would make any difference?

Thought that it might make it out of Scunny better

Yes we are having similar problems. I ordered some books from Amazon and so far (according to the tracking info) it is sitting in a Home Delivery Network Depot and has been for the past week! We have had hardly any post at all too. Our postie says they are sitting in the sorting office twiddling their thumbs because the post trucks aren't coming in.. :bang:

Got our 1st mail delivery since the snow started Pete.
2 bills and the TP Calendar arrived yesterday.
I'm about 2 miles away from you.

We dont have really have any snow here and still no mail.

My wife was expecting a parcel yesterday from RM, as they had tried to deliver it the day before apparently. She rebooked it online but it never showed up.
Also she ordered the new WOW game from Amazon and they were guarenting to have them all deliveed yesterday, but by 4pm there was still no sign. Her dad drove down to the depot and there was a massive pile of parcels there and the girl at the desk said they were having a nightmare time, as the drivers were just simply not bothering to take the stuff out with them and leaving it all in the depot and claiming they couldnt access people's property, which is BS.

No excuses here really as there is only a light frost, just lazyness.

im pretty sure last time it was snowy (at least down here) SD was the only method that the PO were still guaranteeing delivery times for.

They withdrew the guarantee pretty quickly this time. Funnily enough I saw a nice shiny new 4x4 pick up in RM livery here yesterday. Still no mail delivery though.....

Royal Mail deliveries have been crap for years. They just deliver when they feel like it:shake:

Package ordered Monday, sent yesterday, arrived this morning. Manchester - Inverness - ParcelForce. Got a load of junk mail this morning and some Tesco vouchers.

According to our postie yesterday,(we are waiting for quite a few parcels) there are a ton of parcels lying in the main depots, but not getting delivered yet.:|

I was expecting a few parcels in the middle of last week and they were delivered on Sunday!!!

Sent a few ebay sales out last week and an Amazon return on 2nd December, Track and trace just says it's progressing through the network !! - The parcel bound for Fife I can understand but not too chuffed I paid for next day and there still not there yet. No-one mentioned that they couldn't guarantee next day when I was paying for them.... Barstyewards........

aint been a day missed round here

Haven't missed a beat here either, did my Christmas shopping on Amazon the other day, all here already. Then again they do seem good at keeping the roads clear around here, so probably helps.

thats a bit harsh, ive never had any issues sending or receiving..

Yes, parcel mail is very good, I ordered a package from Amazon on Sunday and it arrived half an hour ago. BUT - running a business from home, I normally get my business mail sometime in the afternoons, sometimes no delivery at all. Strange that they can deliver before 9am on a Saturday though, when they want to get off for the weekend:(

I was goin to ask exactley the same thing - still awaiting a few deliveries, did have 1 next day delivery from Scotland during the snow but 2 others I'm still awaiting on ( ordered the same day different companies) with no sign from - and a few parcels (waiting) from places that are either 2miles away or don't have any snow & still no sign of them...

Its annoying that some people are blaming the snow just for the shear sake of it...:dummy:

In Sleaford, one of the boxes i use was stuffed to the brim, i didn't fancy adding my credit card number to the stolen list !
It's shocking, i know the weather's bad but the main post office depot is only 1 mile away and if i can get to work so can they

Hey people, do you mind if us Posties get to spend christmas with our loved ones ?
We're only human afterall and not invincible, personally I would prefer not to spend the holiday in hospital..
Everything that gets through wis being delivered, but can you blame artc drivers etc for not really wanting to risk life and limb in these awful conditions
I was snowed in for 3 days last week and nothing was getting out to the delivery offices anyway, when it did finally start to move on Saturday, pavements were sheet ice, not ideal for walking around with heavy loads and we got off fairly lightly in comparison to some
We are working flat out to clear any backlog

Our daily collection that comes on a 27 mile trip from Malton over the moors to Whitby has somehow managed to get to us everyday so far even though the moor roads have been shut or near enough inpassable for the last week or so, so have only praise for them!

Well I have been snowed in for well over a week and had to walk 8 mile to work in blizzard conditions, on 6" of sheet ice, just to make sure our drivers who drive artics up to Scotland and virtually everywhere in the country can keep supermarkets and shops stocked up for the christmas period, which wont be as enjoyable this year due to it being to dangerous for other people to deliver the presents and letters/cards........if we can do it in one of the most affected areas Im sure some postal services can get through

we had a parcel delivered a couple of nights ago at 9-15 pm not by royal mail
a lot of other parcel firms are working up to 10pm to clear there backlogs
yet i still await 5 parcels via royal snail
not seen our postman for a week now either

With the weather the service has been sporadic and whoever my new postie is for parcels is a lazy b****r compared to my last one. He doesn't even bother to post a card through but gives it to the guy who delivers the mail! I know I live in awkward block of flats but come on. I'm now at a point where I just have to pop down to the depot to get my parcels so not best pleased.

I did also have a strange case a while back where I received no parcels for almost 2 months, was so long that they were reported lost and I had replacements sent only after the 2 month period for ALL my parcels to get delivered. Didn't really mind since I received refunds for some of those and duplicates of others. They were all dated the day before that delivery took place though so looks like some strange hold up at the main depot rather than the postman, reckon the big brother is on to me?

The digger got through to us a couple of days ago DM - we live at the end of a very steep lane so it has no through traffic and no need to be cleared of snow. I can at least make the local shop and pub on foot !

I've had no post for ages - GOD knows where all our Christmas shopping is and I'm all but out of coal and wood.

I've sold stuff on here and despite doing 'the deal' I've tried to explain that I simply can't get to the next village to post anything. People have been in no rush for the goods which is nice and I've obviously not asked for payment yet.

The joys of living in the Scottish hills I guess.

Keeping the electricity, water and guttering is more important to me just now.

So far today and its only 08:14 we have had our bins emptied and now we have some council workers in the street, standing about

Are they waiting for better weather.:D:)

Well that's something. Our bins are out on the lane and I've cleared what I can as they're due to come today but I'm not holding my breath.

Binmen..............working
Council..............working
Gasmen.............working
Busses..............working
Cominity payback lads also out working clearing snow
Couriers............working
Mums walking toddlers to and from school
ALL roads now clear

POSTIES............nowhere to be seen.........now onto day 15

It seems everyone else is getting on with it apart from RM whats wrong with them are they an endangered species or just too fragile to work when the going is just a little hard, I wouldnt and didnt rant when it was dangerous out there but come on its nearly cleared up now but the posties still wont come out and earn their pay

I am still waiting for items ordered from DSCL on Sunday and sent out via the courier option, they were despatched on Monday evening. I don't trust RM

Have been waiting over a week for items from Play and have lots of things go missing in the hands of the good old Royal Mail.

Orders from Am.azon and Play waited 3-4 days at most.

Please don't tar us all with the same brush, we got praise today for being one of 3 offfices in our area who are clearing everything on a daily basiis since we started back out on delivery on Monday, we even worked on Sunday to clear some of the backlog of parcels etc. and are started at some unearthly hour in the morning
It's down to individual managers, not us on the ground, if they say we can't deliver then we can't, and if they refuse to pay overtime to get the backlog cleared then that's another problem.

Life down here in civilization goes on as normal - bins get emptied, post gets delivered, busses run as normal. Postie still in his shorts - with woolie hat on as well.
