Yes
Even though occasionally letters/cards posted 1st class don't arrive the following day, in general I find the service pretty good (certainly in our area)

Last Friday afternoon (1.30 ish) my Mrs posted a get well card to an Aunt, with a 2nd class stamp (only one in her purse at the time, she wasn't being tight ;) )

Card received Sat. morn.

N. Lancs. > Somerset in less than 24 hrs. You can't complain at that!

Nice to hear someone not complaining for a change (y)

If you check the terrms and conditions, next day delivery is guaranteed for 1st Clas

Generally I find first class to be a good service.

It interests me though, if it's guaranteed next day, how many people even bother making a complaint when it takes 2 or more?

Ooops typo should have read isn't, but then if you had checked the terms and conditions you could have pointed that out

Didn't think I needed to tbh.
You work for the RM, I trusted what I'd read.
My mistake...sorry. Jeez.

Not like you not to check and disagree, just because I work for a firm or anyone else for that matter
You must be one of the few that trust any delivery person

Blimey, are you complaining because someone DIDN'T disagree with you?
Blinking postal workers... it's always something isn't it? Moan, moan, moan...

There - has that returned order to the force? ;) :D

You're lucky. It's a bloody miracle if something posted 2nd class gets to me the same week it was posted. It's not even like it costs that much less, I hate it when 2nd class is the only postage option I'm offered.

Ok ok...let me get this straight.
If I'd have checked. ..disagreed, and pointed it out, that would have been wrong...argumentative.

But I didn't.
I went on trust and wrote down a "general wondering" kind of observation; and hey presto, I get told off for agreeing!!
If only I'd worn my psychic pants today!!

where i work i have to constantly educate our customers 1st class does not guarantee next day, however it is normally the case. Guess its just expected now. I have never had a problem with RM, Any time ive sent stuff even if SD and it doesn't arrive next day its normally my fault, like getting to the P.O. too late and the last collection has already gone.

In the summer, anything within 10 miles gets delivered by hand on the bike. Probably costs more in fuel than a stamp would BUT keeps the royal fail's mitts off it and ensures a quick delivery.

And when there is no more royal mail, we'll know who to blame :p

royal fail
I have to say, I've found RM the best of the postal/courier firms. The only issue I've had was two parcels sent Parcelforce 48 arrived late - but this was actually a bonus as they weren't urgent and I got a part refund - result!

It really does seem to be postal roulette with 2nd Class. I've posted things 2nd Class that have turned up next day (so what's the point of 1st Class in that case?). At other times, it's taken 4-5 days. It's nothing to do with where the post is going to either: next day has been going to Scotland from Surrey, the 4 days has been to 20 miles down the road to outer London.

Maybe it's just a lower priority service. If it's a low demand day for 1st class, you get bumped :)

That assumes they ordered a royal mail truck, the parcels would be in the body not that cab,
That's illegal :p
