I sent out 2 filters to a TP member in Dorset on 07/01/10 and a lens to another TP member the same day but to Cheshire, The lens arrived next day but the filters are still in transit............both were same post method 1st class recorded, is anyone else having the same problem or are the PO taking the mick and blaming the weather.

Sent some batteries up to another TP member in Lancs on Thursday last week, 2nd class. They arrived safely on the Saturday morning. I was shocked!

I am still waiting on a couple of parcels that should have been here at the end of last week.

In all fairness though our regular postman is a top notch guy

when I'm in Ireland people send me stuff from the UK and the postman never asks for a signature, just leaves the parcel on top of the mailbox, so much for 'signed for', I've even had registered stuff left like that

Our local postman hasn't been around for a week now, but our local sorting office said any RMSD items will be delivered by the sorting offices manager

I guess it depends how much the area if prepared for the weather really...

Problem is, unless you know your parcel's destination, it might be up a long windy country hill where a PO van has no chance of making it while there's snow and ice on the road.

We've not had any post at work for a week because the PO can't get their vans up the lane. (And I know that to be true because none of the employees can get their cars up there either!!!!)

There really isn't any weather here, so it isn't my end. However another parcel posted the same way from Aylesbury on 4th Jan only got here yesterday.(11th)

Just received some post, one posted yesterday in salisbury, one posted from Lytham St Annes on the 9th, and a Christmas card from the Netherlands presumably posted before Christmas.

british gas sent me a letter on the 22nd of december it arrived yesterday

it was a bill and had to be paid by the 4th of january erm how could i possibly do that if i didnt recive it till the 11th

we had the same issue, first lot of mail since last tuesday, my photo mag subscriptions not came yet and is now on shelves of shops. RM not sending out posties incase they fall

Well annoyed with RM today! Was lieing in bed when I suddenly heard someone pushing what sounded like a "We called but you weren't in" card through the letterbox. I then got my dressing gown on and ran down to the door but I was too late, that b****r got away quickly! I reckon he must have seen that there was no cars there and assumed no one was in, therefore didn't bother knocking.

Not happy! I have 4 hours to wait before I can pick up my 16-105mm now :(

sadly still no delivery, but I think we have to give it a while longer before losing hope.

Dont worry Nick if they dont turn up just PM me your account details and I will reimburse in full and if they turn up afterwards just let me know, Track and trace is still saying in transit.........six working days after posting now thats a funny first class service:thinking:

Track and trace is still saying in transit.........

Well that system has improved somewhat! last time I checked it, I was told I was unable to check it until the item had been delivered :bang:

Thought that was the whole purpose was to be able to TRACK its movements. 3 days later (after receiving it), I was able to log on and check that I had received it, including a copy of my signature

RM near me, in Dorset, seem to be spectacularly crap whatever the weather, and the snow's not even been too bad down here. There's none on the ground at all where I am.

Ordered a Panasonic GH1 last friday from amazon, only option i had for it to be sent was 1st class recorded, due to the weather.

It still hasn't showed up, & the roads round here have been cleared for days now.

Yet ordered a new 24" LCD monitor for the PC on monday, showed up Tuesday no probs at all with UPS.

Also sent a parcel by RMSD on Saturday to Oxford, that also was received on Monday and the weather down South, is alot worst than
what it is here atm.

ok let me give you a little insight into the problem.

Yes the roads round here are now clear, mail is moving around BUT and this is the big problem, we still cannot get out on delivery in many towns because the pavements are covered with compacted snow and with today's rain on top they are are very slippery, together with the idiots that have cleared their drives and just thrown the snow onto the pavements blocking them even more. We can't use bicycles because it really is just too risky.
Most delivery offices are more then happy for people to go in and collect their mail, in ours we are spreading the word because we have mountains of the stuff that we simply can't get out, we did try yesterday after the further heavy snow fall, couldn't get the vans out so we went out in pairs trying to clear the town rounds on foot whilst the fresh snow gave some grip under foot. Rural deliveries are fairing much better simply because it is mainly driving on roads and walking up drives etc.
Ask yourselves how many of you would enjoy trudging around for hours in the conditions out there at the moment, just try walking on those icy for a couple of hours yourselves, it really is no fun,

I had an RMSD large letter (A4 ish) sent from Leeds on 18th December. Looks like it MAY have turned up at our other office this morning. Not going to be there until Monday to be sure it's that one though. It was supposed to be a Christmas Present :( (and I know I ordered it a bit late)

I understand the weather has been pants and things either aren't getting out or being in the wrong place, but the snow before Christmas wasn't as bad as what we had after, but why should it take nearly 4 weeks to send something special delivery?

/rant

Our postmen have been great - they were not allowed to go out in the vans for a few days as it was deemed too dangerous but they did as much on foot as they could then as soon as the roads cleared a bit have been delivering the backlog. This means we have not had deliveries every day but on the days they did not deliver I would not have gone out either.

What we do see quite a bit is people gathered around the van (or stopping their cars when they spot him) to collect their post and save him some deliveries. This often happens at the bottom of my drive when I have seen three cars lined up to collect their post :) Being a rural round the postman knows most of us.

Not had any problems (touch wood) this year, before christmas they were shocking though, might as well have sent things I sent 1st class 2nd class as it was taking just as long!
