Yes
had a Belkin router for 9 months and its nothing but problems, dropping connections, needing constant reboots and not allowing wireless printing, one of the main reasons I got it. well I've had enough now and a replacement is the only way forward, what do you guys recommend? I've looked at the pc pro magazine A list, Draytek was top but readers experience was very mixed. I'm typing this on my phone cos its my only internet access and I have some vital work to get uploaded today! not a happy bunny.

I have been using Draytek routers for a number of years and have been very pleased with their reliability - they were more often in the past found in a business environment due to their cost and feature set, but prices today are more reasonable - I do not use all the advanced features on my router, but its nice to have just in case......

I use the Draytek Vigor 2710N which at present has been stably connected for over 2 weeks (when I normally reboot my PC etc).

I too had been suffering with constant dropping connections over the last few months, and without knowing what you have done it may not be the router that is at fault, but another component or indeed your Broadband service- before in my case BT would look at the issue, they wanted and I did change Microfilters, Lan Cables, installed another router, tried the router on another PC, plugged the router into the Master socket (taking the back plate off ) removed all other wireless appliances etc etc.

After all this my ISP escalated the problem to BT and although we did not get back a fulsome report, the problem suddenly stopped and we went back to a stable connection. My theory is that with all the maintenance that BT is doing to upgrade their exchanges to fibre, that something may have been damaged or set incorrectly, but I will never know.

So before buying another router if you have not done so, I would check all the other components in the Broadband chain.

id be inclined to contact your ISP if youre having dropping connection to make sure there are no line faults to start with.

then replace phone cables and microfilters.

Have you checked if there is a firmware update at all?! I have a customer who had problems with their Belkin router, firmware updated, and now everything is working fine. (including the wireless printing!!)

Thanks guys, am inclined to go with Draytek......

@neil_g: I've contacted the isp, checked BT's website for problems in my area, all seems ok

@viper_campbell: Yeah I've updated the firmware too

Am digging into router settings at the moment as I've tried our phone connected to the saeme outlet point & it works fine - seems to be a router issue

Will keep you updated
