Important announcement on an amendment to the rules.

So from this round onwards if any members wish to submit a panoramic photograph it can be up to a maximum of 1000pix across. The admin reserve the right to reduce or refuse to accept it should they deem it not to be a panoramic image, should that be the case we will notify the member concerned. The 600pix rule still stands for all other submissions.

As usual, any questions can be posted here or if you prefer will be accepted by private message.

Can I suggest a maximum 400 pixel height, on top of the 1000 pixel length for pano images.

Aww, I just realised my entry is in at 700 pix rather than 600. Can I resend or is that me disqualified?

Don't worry I usually resave the images to get the best quality possible for those that are over the limit either in kb or size, I did this for the last round and will do it again for this. When it comes time for one of the other admin to look after the comp round they may just upload the images into the gallery which will automatically resize. Sometimes the quality is not as good as it can be if the photos are manually resized prior to uploading due to the compression used, so it may be worth keeping an eye on your picture sizes for the coming rounds.

Cheers Steve, got confused between the normal and competition sizes :eek:ops:

No problem dod, I do sympathise with you as we have different sizes for the gallery and the forums. We did have a 600pix rule straight across the board to start with but members requested a larger size limit for the forums which we allowed, however I am not prepared to pay and allow for larger sizes in the free members galleries. This is partly why I am willing to spend time reducing pictures in both file and physical size for our competition.

Thanks Matty

I have edited the rules post to include our recent additions concerning panoramics, and the age of photos submitted. I believe the rules are now complete. It took me a while to find all the scattered bits and pieces of the competition rules and information so I would like to thank steep for the suggestion of getting it all together and Matty for sorting the hard bits out :)

no probs thats what im here for!

Don’t forget gentle men and out two? ladies that you only have until next weekend to get your photos submitted. We have got a few entries already in but not as many as last time. Unfortunately I will be away all of next week so won't be around to remind you all.

As I will only be back on Sunday I will pm everyone who I have received an entry from to confirm, if you don't receive a private message from me by Sunday tea time and have submitted an entry then its gone missing and you will need to get in touch as soon as possible.

ok Have fun gents and be kind to EosD and the other admin in my absence. Ohh and good luck in getting that winning shot. :)

I say close it now, that way I have more chance of doing well :D
