Romantic breaks

hi all,

Looking for a nice romantic getaway for 3-4 days around the UK.

I know what I want, a cosy stone cottage in the mountains or on the coast, lots of scenery for walks and photos, proper fire, solitude would be nice so as few neighbours as possible. But done to an acceptable standard inside for cosy nights.

I've been googling for an hour now and the few that looked ok from the outside had either odd interiors or just looked like your grandparents interiors from the 1970s.

so, with all that in mind, any suggestions?

I stayed at:

a few years back, once for a photo course down the road and then went back with the wife. Great location in the middle of the peak district so good for walking.

I cant remember if there are open fires as stayed in the summer, the decor was nice and cosy, not modern but not grans cottage either :)

We stayed at "The Granary" when we wanted a peaceful holiday just before our little 'un was born. The only trouble is they might not do short breaks as it is very popular.

A converted barn in the countryside of Cornwall (with horses, rabbits and sheep as your neighbours - the owner lives up the track but she leaves you alone if thats what you want). Close enough the Falmouth or Truro though if you need shopping and stuff and obviously the cornish coast is great for piccies and walks. The only thing it doesn't have on your list is an open fire unfortunately.

Very nice though, I'd highly recommend.

Or this place in Wales, which I have never been to but was recommended to me by someone else on TP before. It is stored for future reference

Not got the open fire, nor is it stone built, but have stayed here several times, as have family since and I'll always recommend it to anyone looking for a break for 2.

You get to be romantic whilst still being able to do your best Crockett and Tubbs impression and getting some good photo ops.

Unfortunately there's no stone, fireplaces or mountains but apart from that!

£2900 a week

There'd be no chance of any romance, I'd be too worried about the CC bill for there to be any :naughty:

Checkout house on the sea. I've been there and can't recommend them enough. The location is ideal, secluded, quiet, cozy, and within close proximity to a number of wonderful little villages and great restaurants.

Thanks for the suggestions all, I'll check them out in the morning.

Might not be needing them now as just blown £400 on a laptop for her :p
