Hi

Sorry, i'm new to this forum.

Im at university and we have been given an assignment of which I have no idea how to answer, and since we are on an easter break, there is no one I can ask advice from right now.

Basically we have to critically discuss the role of the photograph within African American culture.

I don't believe we ever had a lecture covering this and im a bit stumped.

Any ideas how to tackle it?

Obviously im not asking for people to answer it for me, rather just a little advice how where to go.

Thanks

thanks everyone

I check out some of those books and sites, very helpful indeed. Now I have an idea of what I should be writing, thanks.

I didn't check out theses links so sorry if already covered. But in photo journalism there has been a few articles (especially in the wake of teh Hurricane in Louisianna) about the negative effects of photographers on the African American culture. As in taking pics of the black people looting but not the white people and such. Not sure if that is where you are going though and for the life of me I can't remember where I read it, although I'm pretty sure it was CNN. Sounds like an interesting paper!
