Hi all, bit of an odd one this and my Google-Fu is letting me down as I can't find anything definitive :(:bang:

Our Camera Clubs going through a rough patch and there are several issues which I won't go through here in any detail but one that seems particularly hard to deal with is the role of President of the club.:(

What I am trying to find out is if this role is one that legally must exist?

I know that you must have a Chair, Treasurer and Secretary but what's the position on having a president?

I'd be grateful for any help as our AGM's in about a month.

Wouldn't it be dependent on what the club has laid down in their constitution or whatever?

Kempston going through a rough patch then? :)

Well unless it's an incorporated association, i.e. a company, it's not required to have anything at all as it's just a collection of individuals with a common rule set rather than an entity in it's own right.

Reasonable summary here

The rest is just a product of whatever is in the constitution, without that we're blind.

Cheers guys, just had a good read through both our constitution and that link and certainly helped!

I thought that clubs did have some legal identity but clearly not after all and there's certainly no necessity for anything other than chair, secretary and treasurer to act as committee :-)
