I am hoping someone has come across this problem before, either with Loxleys ROES software or similar from other printers.

Ok, I want to produce a preview book, dead simple 6 images to a page, added in the order they were taken. So, I export them as jpgs from LR, giving them a name followed by a sequential number. All good so far

Then the problems start - when I open the ROES software and navigate to the folder where the jpgs are saved, what shows in the software is not in the order they are numbered or were exported or show in the finder window... basically it seems to be treating the numbers almost alphabetically.

so, lets say I have called the pictures ben.jpg, ben2.jpg, ben3.jpg, etc, and to demonstrate the enormity/annoyance of the issue, lets assume there are 400 images to put in this book.

What the software is doing is showing me ben10.jpg, ben100.jpg, ben101, all the way to ben119...at which point it goes back to ben2.jpg, ben12.jpg, ben120, etc etc....so, what should be a simple drag and drop excersize taking no more than 10 mins to do the entire book, has left me tearing my hair out as I have to scroll up and down 400 pictures to find the pics in order.

Now I am feeling a little brain dead anyway, but I cannot find anything in the software that will allow me to change the way it 'sees' the order or numbering of the image files.... nor can I think of any way to number or name them that will fool it into showing them correctly... :bang:

I have run a test using just 30 images to see if using just a number makes a difference, but no, still get 1, 11, 12.... then 2, 20, 21, etc...

Anyone got any ideas? :shake:

What about benA, benB, benC etc?

That would be fine if I had only 26 pictures... but what happens after Z? if I do AA, it will put that before B, if I do numbers, right back to square 1 :(

Thanks Mike, it is just very frustrating that something that should be so easy is going to take me a couple of hours to do and triple checking to make sure I haven't missed any pictures :bonk:

You need ben001, ben002, ben003 etc

Or a space, hyphen or underscore e.g. Ben 1, Ben-1 or Ben_1.

:)

A dawdle, ben becomes bfn A to Z then bgn A to Z etc:D

The Admirable fella has the right way though!

It's because computers read left to right. Just remember that and the number thing become obvious :-)

We tend to look at the pattern of a group of letters and see a number order despite the missing leading zeroes and whether we're reading left to right, or right to left.
